“Right, back to the meeting,” Kevin said, retaking his seat as the others settled down. “For the sake of his nibs, here, I’ll do a quick recap on what we know,” he said, running through everything.
Bert shook his head. “How could all this be happening and none of us picked up even a hint of anything?”
“I’m pretty sure the witches covered a lot up, especially Quintus. Plus, if there’s a demon helping, they could have hidden a lot,” Gabe said.
“That would make sense,” Bert said. “What has the council said?”
“Nothing. I’m not telling them until we have sorted everything or if we have to,” Gabe told him. “Quintus Cameron-Webb was our council representative and is up to his neck in all of this. We think he’s been removed from his post for not stopping his son, but I don’t know for sure yet.”
“I suggested that Gabriel document’s everything in case the council does get involved. At the very least, everything will be recorded for when this underground network has been stopped and charges are brought against those involved,” Stefan said.
“If you have any problems with the council, let me know. I’m happy to go and bash heads together,” Bert offered.
Gabe laughed. “Thanks. I’ll let you know if it comes to that.”
“Ivan, Gavin, what did the two of you discover?” David asks them.
Gavin nods to Ivan. “I’ve hacked all the electronics we found. It would seem that they recorded a lot of their meetings.”
“Seriously?” Mathis asked in surprise, leaning forward.
“Oh, yeah. They dimmed the colour to hide their faces but didn’t disguise their voices. Like Kayden, I’ve put an initial document together. I can email it over to you all. The only issue I’m having is hacking Quintus Cameron-Webb’s computer. I was hoping that Gabe might be able to magic it to me.”
“I can give it a go,” Gabe replied and muttered a quick spell. The next moment, a laptop appeared in front of him.
“Nice one,” Seth said, high-fiving him.
“You’re so much stronger than your brother was,” Bert said, smiling at Gabe.
“Thanks. I’m still learning what I can do. He suppressed my magic for years.”
“I’m not surprised,” Bert said.
“Like we said earlier, Gavin found addresses for everyone except Spencer and Jack, so we can start getting the children back home,” Ivan added.
“If you send me the addresses, my pack can start getting them home today,” Kevin told them.
Gavin nodded, picked up his phone and sent the list to Kevin. While he had his phone out, he also sent a quick message to Hunter. He knew Hunter couldn’t reply, but at least he would know Gavin was thinking about him.
“Where’s our party invite?” Troy asked, walking over to them with Cairo.
“Kitty cat,” Bert said by way of a greeting.
“Puppy. This is my mate Cairo. Cairo, this is the Alpha King, Bertrum Mellor.”
Bert looked at Cairo. “You have my sympathies.”
Cairo snorted out a laugh.
“The puppy thinks he’s funny,” Troy said.
“He’s the only one,” Ian mutters as the others smile.
“Did you find Jake Conway?” David asked him.
Cairo shook his head. “No, the place was deserted.”
“Figures,” Gabe said, sagging a little. “Nothing to do with this is easy, so why would finding him be different?”
