Plans were being made in the pack conference room when Gabe’s phone beeped. He pulled out his phone and frowned at the message.
“What’s wrong, little witch?” Mathis asked him.
“Kayden and Ivan don’t think Leonard was the actual leader of all this,” Gabe said.
“If not him, then who?” Ian asked.
Gabe ran a hand through his hair. “That is the question. I need to ring David. Hopefully he can find out from the lemmings,” he said, pulling up David’s number and hitting the call button and then the speaker button.
“Hi, Gabriel. The lemmings have been brought over and I’m just on my way to talk to them,” David said on answering.
“David, Ivan and Kayden think Leonard wasn’t the actual leader of all this. Can you ask Giles what he knows?”
They heard David growl. “I’ll find out the truth. How is the planning going?”
“We have plans and back up plans,” Kevin replied for Gabriel.
“Good. Remember, if you need help, call,” David reminded them.
“And if you need a witch, call Sean or Kayden,” Gabe said.
“Will do. Chat later.” And with that, David hung up.
Gabe put his phone down.
“Do you think Ivan and Kayden could be right?” Seth asked.
“I honestly don’t know. At this moment in time, there are very few people I trust in the coven, which is a sad thing to say as I’ve known a lot of these people my whole life. I don’t know what it’s like with wolves or vampires, but unless someone mates outside of the coven, we don’t usually get many new members.”
“The same with packs. New members come through matings, occasionally because people move with their jobs and petition to join the pack. But we do thorough background checks first and then they’re on probation for eighteen months before we fully accept them,” Kevin said.
“Apart from new mates and Gio’s guards, plus you guys,” Seth said, waving to Gio’s friends, “we’ve not had any new members since the coven started.”
“But Kay wasn’t born in your coven,” Gio said. “Who else was new?”
Gabriel thought for a moment. “Giles Goodsir. I’m sure he joined a few months after Kay. The only other one I can think of is Jake Conway.” Gabe smiled at Mathis. “He’s the witch you knocked out in Kay’s bedroom.”
“I’m glad I did that now.”
Before he could say anything else, Gabe’s phone rang again.
“Hey, Kayden,” Gabe said, again putting his phone on speaker.
“Gabe, we think we have a bigger problem,” Kayden said.
“Really?”
“Yeah. From the information we’re finding, we think this is bigger than just our coven. We think it’s a massive underground paranormal network, including all paranormal groups.”
“There is no way something like this could have been hidden from the paranormal council,” Gio said, frowning.
“It could have been suppressed by Quintus Cameron-Webb. We need access to his computer and files,” Gabe replied. “I could partition the paranormal council, but then they would swoop in and try and take over everything.”
“Hopefully we can find Kay’s computer in his room. It should have emails from Kay to Quintus. I should then be able to find Quintus IP address and hack his system, which could potentially give us some answers,” Ivan said.
Gabe looked at Kevin. “I can pop back to the coven house and get Kay’s computer for Ivan and be back before it’s time to go.”
Kevin nodded. “That would be helpful.”
“Guys, I’m on my way back to you. See you in a moment,” Gabe told them.
“You will,” Kayden said, hanging up.
Gabe pocketed his phone. “Be back in a bit.” He looked at Mathis. “Want to come?”
“Of course I’m coming, little witch. That other witch is still on the loose in your coven,” Mathis told him.
Gabe swirled his hand and opened a portal into Leonard’s bedroom, holding his hand out to Mathis, who took it.
“Back soon,” Mathis said as he and Gabe walked through. Gabe closed it behind him.
