Cade must feel his stare because he looks at him and gives him a dirty smile causing Damon to look away andblush! I think Damon is what Cade has been missing and the answer to his newfound bliss. I worry about what Kane will think. He was seething that first night when Damon gave Cade a blowjob. If Kane finds out that they have something going on? Not sure he would be as understanding as I am.
"Damon, you want to drive? You know your way around here a little, right?" Cade winks, tossing him the keys. Damon scoffs, "yeah, just a little."
The twenty-minute ride to Kane's house is quiet. All of us are lost in our own thoughts. I worry that when I see Kane, I might burst into tears at his feet. I'm still a wreck after reading his letter. I look out of the window as we pull up outside Kane's house. I smile when I see him standing by the front door, arms crossed as if protecting himself from the cold. Nervous excitement blossoms in my belly.
Kane's posture stiffens when he sees Damon at the wheel, and I can see him grinding his teeth from here.
"This is going to be fun," Damon mumbles, switching off the engine. Braylon pats him on the arm, "maybe you should have given him the heads up that you were coming." Choosing to ignore him, Damon gets out and heads toward a scowling Kane. Maybe Bray was right, and Damon should have tried to reach out before coming here.
The three of us hang back as Damon Stops in front of Kane, shuffling awkwardly. Cade watches with intense interest at their interaction. "Hey," Damon mutters. Kane's eyes narrow on him. "What are you doing here? Forget your knife you left in my back?" I flinch at the venom in his voice, and Cade sucks in a breath as Damon pleads, "come on, man, you know it wasn't like that." He scoffs, getting in Damon's face. I feel Cade tense beside me, so I slip my hand into his as we continue watching.
"No? Because when I poured my shitty past out to you, and youstillleft me here the same fucking day I told you. It sure felt like you stabbed me."
The hurt in his voice causes a jolt of pain in my heart. Kane takes another threatening step forward, causing Braylon to curse and stride over to them, having had enough of this altercation.
"Okay, let's back up a little and take it easy, shall we?" Braylon steps in between them and looks at Kane with a stern face. Kane's face scrunches up as he becomes even angrier.
"And what the fuck are you doing here?" Braylon's jaw ticks with anger, but he doesn't respond.
"I invited him. My name is still on the lease, too, you know," Damon croaks, emotion in his voice telling me that Kane has gotten to him.
Cade tightens his hand around mine and leads us slowly up to the front door, where Kane's large frame takes up the space. Damons studies Kane with a frown and then asks, "When was the last time you had a fight?"
Taking in Kane's appearance, I notice the tension in his shoulders and the apparent attitude to go with it. "When do you think? My manager quit on me, so it's been hard to find one," he replies sharply.
Damon huffs and rubs his hands down his face. Once he has a hold of himself, his face changes to one of all business. "Okay, looks like we're going to the gym. Bray, you up for some sparring with Kane?" he asks, turning to look at him.
"Sure," Braylons eyes flash with intent.
"Cade, Vixen, you want to watch?" Damon offers.
Kane growls, "Vixen? Well, isn't this cozy? Seems like you've made yourself right at home," Kane says snidely. I know that he is just worked up to fuck, so I don't let his snide remark get to me too much.
Even though I feel bad for Damon that Kane is so resentful about him moving, the drama between the two of them kept me from becoming a weeping mess in front of Kane, and now I've seen him, I think I'll be able to keep it together.
The noise as Kane hits the mats when Braylon uppercuts him is loud, making me jump and wince. "Why do they look so aggressive?" I ask Damon, who is watching next to me. He sends me a reassuring smile.
"When men work out, their testosterone levels rise. When you add the fighting to that, the raised levels of testosterone can cause increased chances of aggression. The adrenaline coursing through their bodies right now will be adding to that. Don't worry. They both need this, Kane especially."
Turning my attention back to the mats, I see Braylon offering a hand to help Kane back up. Surprisingly he accepts it.
Both men are sweating, and their sculptured muscles ripple with every movement. The contrast between Kane's bare skin and Braylon's tattooed body makes the two men seem complete opposites.
Watching the two of them as they spar makes me hot and restless. I don't like seeing two men I care deeply for hurt each other, but the naughty side of me gets turned on as they grunt and groan.
"Kane, work on your posture, your form has gotten sloppy, and it's causing you to go down easily," Damon reprimands causing Kane to grit his teeth at him. "And who's fault is that?" he snaps back but puts himself back into his fighter's position, already looking stronger. "Yeah, yeah, I'm the worst. Braylon, you are too much about the kicks. You need to go for more body shots with your fists. You'll tire out too quickly otherwise," Damon advises. Unlike Kane, Braylon doesn't get defensive when he instructs him, making him less of a headache for Damon, I'm sure.
Besides a few people getting in one more workout before the Christmas binge, the gym is empty. Cade has been occupying one of the running machines while the two men have been sparring, but I feel more than hear when he creeps up behind Damon.
His musk is more potent from exerting himself, making his sandalwood scent more noticeable. Damon must sense him at his back because he sucks in a breath and closes his eyes. I squirm against the onslaught of hormones running through my body from watching them standing so close. They look good together, and I'm keen to see where they go with this thing they have going on.
"You are extremely good at what you do," Cade's sultry purr glides along Damon's ear, causing him to shiver. I giggle at Cade's mischievous behavior, causing Damon to blink dazedly. "Huh?" Damon turns to Cade eyeing his glistening chest, the tattoos covering his torso looking darker than usual.
He sends me a wink as he looks back at Damon with a wicked smile and then a head nod towards the two men grunting as they hit each other. "Your job. You're excellent at providing them with advice without patronizing them in the process. Your suggestions are accurate, and you make them better for it." A warmth ignites my body at Cade's compliment to Damon, and Damon practically preens under his praise.
No more grunting. I look back at the mats to see Kane has stopped sparring with Braylon and is looking at Cade and Damon.
Shit.
