EPILOGUE
Michaela
I fought with everything I had against Samuel’s influence, but he was so damn strong. My eyes darted to Seraphina, but she was whimpering beneath Laszlo’s stupid oath. My wings brushed against the edges of the ash circle, and I hissed in pain. The magic keeping us in was powerful. But so was I.
“No.” I ground out the word. “I will not be your captive again.” I shoved away from the Kings.
Samuel’s eyes widened, and he shouted at me. “How are you doing this?”
I could see Morax through the haze of power surrounding us.
Phenex was lying on the ground before him.
My mate’s eyes snapped up and met mine. He roared in fury, his power seeking out my own.
I had no clue what I was doing, but something in my blood came to life in that moment, and I used every ounce of my strength to blast a hole in the circle.
The world rocked at the force of it, and the smallest opening appeared.
The oxygen was growing thin, and I could feel my body being pulled out of this world and into another, but I refused to go. I stuck my hand through the small opening, and Morax instantly clasped my hand in his. His voice called to me, laced with power and so much love my heart was about to burst.
Samuel was shouting at my back, and Belial roared his fury, but it was too late. Morax ripped me out of their circle and we crashed to the earth. I turned back and screamed for my sister, but they were gone.
“No!” I shouted, scrambling to my feet. My heart broke in two.
Morax grabbed my waist, and I leaned against his chest. “Are you hurt?” His other hand brushed the tears from my face.
“No. But she’s with them. I left her,” I cried out, angry tears spilling down my face and making the world blurry.
Phenex groaned, and we turned to him. There was a bloody gash across his stomach, deep enough to kill a human, but he was already healing. His face mirrored my anguish, and he let out his rage to the sky.
The Princes dropped from that very sky moments later, shouting for Seraphina. I couldn’t bear it, couldn’t tell them she was gone.
“Where the fuck is she?” Ty snarled, his body shaking with fury and fear.
“She is gone. Belial took her to Caligo.” Morax spoke softly, holding me close.
Andras snarled, showing more emotion than normal. “Can we go to them?”
Phenex groaned as he stood, holding his healing stomach. “Yes. And we will. Gather our people. Kill everyone else. If Belial wants a war, we shall bring an army.”
