CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
Devon
M y wings appeared, and I took off into the sky after my mate.
The others followed, Phen zipping past me with a laugh.
He was such a competitive asshole, but I liked that about him.
One of the many things I liked about him.
The memory of his throbbing dick in my mouth flashed before my eyes, and I nearly groaned out loud.
I knew Andras would make good on his promises to dole out punishments in any way he saw fit.
What I didn’t expect was how much I enjoyed my punishment.
Something changed between the other Princes and I when Seraphina finally accepted us.
We were bound to each other in ways I never knew existed.
Even now, I could feel them. Feel their elation at our new freedom, their love for our queen.
Every thought they had washed through me in waves.
It was hard to control that first night, but we were getting better.
Too much sharing could make a person go crazy.
And after self-imposed separation on my part, figuring out how to mute the chatter was imperative.
And I would be telling no one how much I secretly enjoyed it, either.
I flew through the clouds, chasing after the love of my life and my brothers.
She turned back and caught my eye, and I nearly fell to the earth at the beauty of her smile.
It was stunning, full of unfiltered, raw happiness.
She hadn’t smiled like that once since I met her.
And I wanted nothing more than to make her smile like that every day for the rest of our lives.
Pushing my body harder, I chased her through the sky until I was close enough to reach out and take her hand.
We flew side by side, smiling like idiots.
“This is the most amazing fucking thing,” she shouted, her smile turning sly. “Other than seeing you taking Phen’s dick down your throat.”
I rolled my eyes and snatched her around the waist. She yelped, her wings disappearing, but I held her close.
“You have a filthy mouth, my queen.” I smirked at her, drinking in the power glowing beneath her skin.
“And what are you going to do about it?” she purred, wrapping her body around mine like a limpet.
I brushed my thumb across her plump lips. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
She smirked, undeterred. “You know what else is amazing?”
“What’s that, mera dil ?” I whispered, hanging on her every word.
She leaned in, her lips brushing along my jawline until she reached my ear. “Being your mate.”
Before I could respond, Seraphina leapt out of my arms, her wings reappearing as she dove back to Earth.
My heart soared at her declaration, and I sent wave after wave of love down the bond for her to know how much it meant to me. After all we had been through, all the ways I fucked things up for us, we survived. We would get through this, together, one way or another.
Two sets of wings rushed toward Seraphina, and I started to shout in alarm, only to realize they were friendlies. Michaela and Morax circled my girl, their excitement evident.
Seraphina reached out and took her sister’s hand, and together they flew toward the sun. Michaela’s wings were brightest white and glistened in the sunlight. With Seraphina’s black as midnight wings at her side, they were glorious to behold.
A sharp pain pierced my heart at the sight, and I quickly turned away from them.
My sister was still lost, brainwashed and controlled by Laszlo and Samuel.
I hated leaving her behind that night, but in the chaos following the ritual, I couldn’t find her.
Until she was free, my heart could not truly be full.
Leyja was my only living relative, and I needed to save her.
“Dev!” Levi tore through the sky, nearly barreling into me. “I have an idea.”
“What’s that?” I asked, curious.
Levi swooped beneath me so we were facing each other. “I think we should go get your sister. Now, before they’ve had time to get their shit together. The Kings are scrambling. We have full control of our daemons now. Let’s sneak in, grab her, and run.”
His words tugged at my heart, and I so desperately wanted to listen, but it was a suicide mission. I shook my head. “They’ve been one step ahead of us at every turn. I can’t risk losing one of you.”
Levi rolled his eyes. “I can’t stand the pain you’re in without her. And until we are all equally blissed out, we won’t be as strong as we could be. Let us help you.”
Andras suddenly dropped from this sky, his ink-colored wings blotting out the sun. “I don’t normally agree with Levi’s crazy ideas, but I think I have a plan for this one.”
We turned as one, diving to the earth below. Seraphina and Ty had landed. They were looking up at us, as if they already knew what was coming. I dropped to the earth, landing a little less gracefully than Levi and Andras.
Phenex joined us a moment later. “So, we’re going hunting?” He wiggled his eyebrows.
Andras narrowed his eyes. “No. This is a subtle rescue mission. We go in, get Leyja, and get the fuck out. No fighting. No confrontations.”
“Stealth mode.” Ty chuckled, his eyes darkening. “I like it.”
“When do we leave?” Seraphina clapped.
As one, we turned to her and said. “No.”
“You will stay here,” Andras commanded, his voice fierce. Anyone else would bow before his dangerous tone and sharp eyes, but not our girl.
She snarled at him, her hands on her hips and her adorable horns poking out from her windswept crimson hair. “Fuck that! We are doing this together.”
“ Mi diosa .” Levi cut in, his voice sweet and pleading. “Let us do this for Dev. Knowing you’re here, safe, will make it easier for us.”
“I am not some weak bitch who waits at home,” Seraphina snapped, she stepped up to Andras, glaring at him. “You know this about me.”
Phenex crept up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. She protested, but not enough to make him let go.
“We know, mini monstra ,” Phenex murmured against her neck. “But this isn’t about you. It’s about them. Let your Princes do this thing together. And we will offer up your pretty pussy as a reward when they return.”
“And someone needs to stay behind with the chaotic daemon,” Andras quipped, his expression turning exasperated. “I’m already allowing Levi to go. One reckless Prince is enough.”
Seraphina rolled her eyes, but her desire and amusement shuddering through the bonds made me smile. She was coming around to the idea. She leaned into Phenex as he trailed kisses down her neck. “Fine. But you all better listen to Andras. No stupid shit. Get Leyja and come back to me.”
Ty smirked, his fangs elongated and his eyes glinting with dark desires. “Alright then, little vixen. I’ll behave. Only if you promise to let me tie you up and taste you when I return.”
“Deal.” She grinned, shoving away from Phen and leaping into Ty’s muscular arms. He caught her easily, growling deep in his chest and kissing her hungrily.
Andras snatched the back of her neck and forced her to look at him. “You behave too, sweetheart. Let’s go, brothers.”
We each took our turns kissing Seraphina goodbye. I went last, holding her in my arms for an extra moment.
She looked up at me, love and nervous energy shining in her aquamarine eyes. “Please come back to me.”
I held her face, bringing my forehead down to hers. “Always.”
