CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT

Seraphina

S omething stirred in my blood, waking me. I was wrapped up in Phen’s arms. We fucked like lovers finally reunited after being separated for years before falling asleep. I missed my other Princes, but having that time alone with Phen was pretty fucking great.

He was a ball of chaotic energy, more than all my other mates combined. And so fucking powerful. Remembering how he tied me up with vines and used his power to fuck me in a thousand new positions had my damn pussy throbbing all over again.

Phen stirred, his arms wrapping tightly around me. One of his hands slipped between my legs, and he growled possessively. “Wet for me already, mini monstra ?”

I moved my hand over his and urged his fingers to press inside me. “What? Are you too tired to play? Keep up, daemon prince.”

Phen chuckled and his thick cock throbbed against my backside. He was about to speak but suddenly went rigid and silent. A moment passed, and then he swore. “Fuck. Get dressed.”

Phen jumped from the bed, tossing clothes at me and dressing himself quickly.

I hurriedly slipped on my leggings and sweatshirt, a weird feeling inside me bubbling over.

Something was very wrong. I tugged at the bonds between me and my Princes, but I couldn’t feel them. It was as if they were blocked from me.

“I can’t feel the others, can you?” I asked, hoping he could sense something.

Phen shook his head. “No. And Morax is freaking out. There’s commotion in the house. Fuck.”

My heart seized, and I ran to him, squeezing his hand. “What is it?”

“The Kings are here. With my brother. Belial has come.”

My blood ran cold at his words. The power surged within me, and I called for my sister. I sensed her close by and grabbed a few daggers before fleeing the room, Phen close behind me.

People were shouting, humans, daemons, and lumens running through the halls. From the screams, it sounded like the Kings breached our defenses. They were inside the mansion.

“What do we do? Because all I want to do is kill Laszlo and take the rest down with me,” I shouted at Phen over the commotion.

He frowned, his gray eyes filled with doubt. “Belial is incredibly strong. He channels my father’s power. Mor and I will try to subdue him.”

Sensing his unease, I punched Phen’s arm as we ran. “Hey, mate of mine. You’re strong as fuck, Phen. So am I. We can do this.”

Phen smirked at me, some of his cockiness coming back into his face. His power rose from within his veins, making his eyes glow silver. “I know we can, mini monstra . You’re stronger than all of us.”

I hoped that was true because if not, this might not end so well.

We found my sister and Morax in a hallway close to the ballroom. Morax was in full daemon mode, and it was fucking awesome. My sister was holding her own against the human guards trying to steal her away while Morax fought against another daemon.

I snarled, feeling my horns coming out and my eyes glowing with power. I roared my fury, running at them with my blades out. These fuckers didn’t deserve my power, so I cut them to pieces with my daggers instead.

Once the last one fell at my feet, I looked up to see my sister smiling at me.

She cocked her head at me. “Why do I feel like you enjoyed that?”

I grinned, wiping their gross blood from my face. “Maybe I did. Just a little.”

We turned to see Morax holding a daemon against the far wall, and Phen rushed in, his clawed hand sinking into the daemon’s chest and ripping out his heart.

It was fucking glorious. The creature dropped to the floor, and Morax whipped out a tiny blade that shone in the darkness.

It was made of stellatium, one of the only things on this Earth that could kill a daemon or lumen.

Morax stabbed the heart, and the daemon burst into a cloud of stardust.

The two monsters turned to us, and I sauntered over to Phen, wrapping my hands around his neck.

“That was so fucking hot.” I pushed up on my tiptoes and crushed my lips to his.

My mate growled low, gripping the back of my neck and dominating my mouth with his own. “Keep Mina on a leash, mini monstra . We have more enemies to kill.”

I laughed and saw Kaela rolling her eyes and making a gagging motion. “Fine. But I want to fuck you covered in the blood of those enemies later.”

He chuckled, and the sound sent zips of pleasure straight to my pussy. “As you wish, my queen.”

Morax interrupted us. “Belial is in the courtyard behind the mansion. I can feel him there. I don’t want either of you near him.” His eyes locked with my sister’s, and I could almost feel his fear.

“I’m not letting you go after him alone,” Kaela snarled, staring him down. “And you!” She pointed at me, her face scrunching with anger.

Damn she was a firecracker. Her bravery filled me with fucking pride. I gave her my best innocent look. “What did I do?”

Kaela wagged her finger in my face. “No sending me away this time. If you’re fighting, so am I.”

The last thing I wanted was my sister anywhere near the Kings, but she was right. Her power was strong, and we needed every powerful creature we could get.

I nodded. “Alright. I can’t reach the Princes, something is blocking us. I have a feeling it’s Laszlo’s doing. They wanted to separate us.”

Phen snarled, his full daemon on display and looking delicious as fuck. “Then let’s go kill the bastards.”

The four of us ran through the mansion, hunting our enemies and cutting down any in our way.

We caught up with Nuriela and Lo, but there was no time to chat.

I glimpsed Lo kicking some serious ass, and a pang of guilt cut through my heart.

I hated that she was involved in this, but there was nothing I could say now.

She was here, fighting with us, and that’s more than I could ever ask for.

I took a left down a servant’s hall and cut through the kitchen. Several human guards were blocking our way through. Phen was about to rush them, but I stopped him.

“Wait, I want to try something.”

I snatched a container of powdered sugar and chucked it at them. Just as it began to fall, I shot out a tiny fireball. The sugar exploded into a massive fireball, whooshing through the kitchen. Morax quickly created a shield around us, but the guards were not so lucky.

“What the fuck was that?” Morax shouted angrily, checking to make sure my sister was unharmed.

She swatted him away.

“I always wanted to try that and never had the opportunity.” I shrugged, thinking of Tibby. “Fun fact Tibby told me once, and it seemed like a good time to test out the firepower of powdered sugar.”

Phen smacked my ass and I yelped in surprise. “You’re kind of insane, mini monstra . I am so fucking in love with you.”

I grinned, my heart soaring at his words, but Morax was in full grouch mode and shoved me forward. “Let’s go, little psycho. We have bigger enemies to destroy.”

We crept out of the kitchen through a servant’s door and slinked along the side of the mansion, toward the courtyard. The cloudy night sky provided us cover, and Phen whispered a few words to cloak the sound of our footsteps. That one was handy; I needed to learn it.

Whispers carried on the cool night breeze, and we slowed our pace.

Belial stood with the Kings, his arms crossed and looking bored.

He was massive, bigger than Morax and Phen in his beast mode.

He had the same dark hair, although his was short and manicured, like a fancy businessman.

His black horns stood straight out from the crown of his head.

His eyes glowed bright-green and his black, dragon-like wings shimmered with a dusting of the same color across the scales.

He wore dark slacks and a white V-neck shirt, fitted to show off his considerable muscle. But it was the cocky smirk on his face that made alarm bells ring in my head.

“Come out, brothers,” he purred, the sound eerie as hell. “Or are you still too cowardly to face me?”

Phen and Morax shared a look, and before Kaela or I could stop them, their wings snapped out and they rushed at Belial.

The three daemons crashed into each other, and the sound was like thunder.

They fought, using their considerable powers to destroy the other.

But the three were evenly matched, quickly blocking blades and fireballs before they could do any damage.

I sensed another presence, but it was too late. A knife wrapped around Kaela’s throat and another around my own.

“Let’s go, my pretties,” a slimy voice cooed in my ear, and I snarled but complied.

I couldn’t do anything while Kaela had a knife to her throat. Our jailers forced us out of the shadows and toward Samuel and Laszlo. Laszlo’s predatory smile made my skin crawl. His eyes slowly took in every inch of my body until they settled on my face.

“Seraphina.” He purred my name, and I wanted to vomit. “Did you think I would let you get away from me so easily?”

I straightened my spine. “I wouldn’t say it was easy.”

In the next second, I slammed my skull into the face of the creature holding the knife to my throat. The blade cut into my skin, and I hissed, grabbing it and twisting it out of the guard’s hand. Another human. I stabbed the slim blade into his eye, and he screamed as he died.

I turned to the one holding my sister, but he pressed the blade tighter to her throat, drawing a trickle of blood in the process. Morax roared, but couldn’t get away from Belial.

My head snapped back to Laszlo, and I glared at him. “Let her go, you piece of shit.”

Laszlo shook his head, his eyes crinkling with mirth. “I’m going to enjoy breaking you, daughter of Aurora.”

Several more creatures, daemons and lumens alike, dropped from the skies. One of them had a bow and arrow. She pulled the bow taut, pointing the arrow at my sister’s heart.

Laszlo walked slowly, deliberating, stopping only a few feet from me. He looked so much like Andras, except for the evil distorting his features.
