CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

Michaela

I was literally on cloud nine. All those movies with people being giddy and weird after sex, they weren’t kidding.

It was more than that, though. We were bonded in ways no movie could know about, and all I wanted to do was feel him inside me again.

And we did. Like, ten more times. Not before Morax took me into the bath and forced my body to rest and heal.

He wasn’t wrong about the pain. The first time he entered me, there was a little pain.

And a little blood, although I didn’t notice that until after.

Considering he drank from me when we had sex that first time, the blood between my legs didn’t bother him at all.

He wasted no time scooping me up and into the bathtub.

I was exhausted, and he gently massaged my body, whispering sweet things while I recovered.

And then we had sex over and over. Morax wasn’t lying when he said we were going to fuck for days.

My body healed quickly, my lumen blood keeping it strong.

And my libido was nearly high enough to match his.

The feral look in his eyes when his cock entered me was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen.

And oh holy shit, his cock. When I first saw it all those months ago, I imagined what those ribbed rings along the shaft would feel like.

It was magical. The added ridges caressed my body and filled me like nothing I could ever describe.

I had no concept of time when he was fucking me.

The world could’ve ended, and we’d never know it.

Alas, it didn’t end. And my power was getting restless. My wings came out several more times, and I was eager to try them out. Morax understood. Our bond was so strong, we could feel each other’s emotions. I’d never been so connected to someone in my life. And I would never get enough of it.

Morax chuckled at my side. “Will you stop thinking about fucking? You’re driving me insane, and it was your idea to leave the bedroom.”

I smirked, my cheeks flushing, and his eyes glowed as he tracked the color rising up my face.

“I can’t help it. I do want to fly and try out my power. But I also want…”

Morax stopped, and his hands snapped out, gripping my waist and pressing me into the wall. “I know what you want, little lumen.”

My breaths grew shallow, and my body hummed with desire for my mate.

“My mate,” I whispered.

Morax growled, crushing his lips to mine and holding me tight against the wall. He pulled away, leaving me wanting more. “Yes, your mate. And I will be more than happy to satisfy all of your filthy desires, little doe.”

I flushed at the nickname. I loved it, loved when he hunted me and claimed his prize. “Once I learn to fly, this hunting thing will be on a whole other level.”

Morax grinned, a growl building in his chest. “I look forward to it, little doe.”

Morax learned from Phenex that my sister was outside the manor training. They were testing her power, but she was apparently having trouble controlling it.

As we walked toward them, a fireball shot in our direction. I screamed, but Morax easily deflected it.

He snarled at my sister. “I am not afraid to kill you, little psycho, if you hurt my mate.”

Seraphina rolled her eyes, hands on her hips, red hair flying in the wind like some kind of superhero. “I knew you’d protect her. See? She’s fine.”

I skipped over to my sister, my angry daemon stomping several paces behind. “How’s it going?” I looked between her and Morax’s brother Phenex, sensing tension.

She sighed, running her hand through her wavy hair. “Poorly.”

Phenex laughed, his tattooed arms crossed and his gray eyes twinkling with mischief. “Joining us so soon? I thought my brother was made of stronger stuff. Perhaps he’s not satisfying you?”

A massive rock appeared in Morax’s hand, and he chucked it at his brother’s head. Phenex dodged it easily enough, laughing as he ran and Morax gave chase.

“How did he do that?” Seraphina huffed pointing at my mate. “Why can’t I do that?”

I squeezed her arm and leaned in, unable to keep my secret any longer. “Want to see something cool?”

She nodded, and I called my wings forth. They snapped out, and the rush of power zipped through my body like a drug. Her eyes went wide, and I beamed with pride.

“Holy fuck, Michaela! You have wings! They are so fucking pretty!” Seraphina smiled wide, and I grinned back at her, so ridiculously proud.

I squealed like a child, but I didn’t care. “Right? I love them so much. They came out when…” I dropped my voice to a whisper. “When we had sex.”

Seraphina snorted a laugh. “Oh my gods. My baby sister got her wings because of a great orgasm?!”

My face flushed, and my eyes snapped to Morax as several people chuckled. There were too many people with super-hearing around here.

He was at my side instantly. “Anyone says a single word, I will cut out their tongues.”

Phenex laughed, pretending to zip his lips shut.

Morax stroked my cheek with his rough hand. “You didn’t get it from sex, mae domina . It was unleashed with our mate bond. I have a theory about that. Your power may be tied to it.”

“What?” Seraphina and I said in unison.

He nodded, his voice certain, golden eyes watching me.

“We’ve gone over the details of that first ritual.

And the spells you’ve told me about, the words your mother would whisper when your power dimmed.

I think she was protecting you. Making sure you could hide more easily until we could find each other. ”

“How would she know Michaela would find her mate?” Seraphina crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow.

Phenex responded first. “She was the most gifted seer our people had ever known. Even more than the witches,” he added, winking at Delphine rolling her eyes several feet away.

Seraphina sighed. “So my powers are on the fritz because I don’t have a fucking mate?”

I shrugged, unsure what to say. Which didn’t seem to matter, because Phenex was suddenly scooping her up with a snarl. Several grumpy Princes prowled closer to them.

“You do have a mate, you just refuse to acknowledge him.” His voice was deep and predatory.

But with my heightened senses, I detected a hint of hurt. My sister’s rejection was hurting him. She shoved out of his arms, and I pulled her aside.

“Are you so sure?” I whispered to my sister. I looked at Morax and suddenly a bubble of warmth surrounded us. “They can’t hear us. Now answer truthfully. Do you honestly feel nothing between you and Phenex?”

Seraphina sighed. “I don’t know. No? But my feelings for the Princes haven’t changed. I could never leave them behind for a mate I barely know.” She added air quotes to the word like it was crazy to even think of such things.

But having found my own, and knowing instantly there was something between us, it didn’t seem crazy at all. In fact, I was starting to think my wild and tough-as-nails older sister may find herself with multiple mates.

I quirked a brow and grinned at her. “Who says you can’t have more than one?”

She smirked, crossing her arms, her bright aquamarine eyes twinkling at the idea. “Wouldn’t that be something?”

I shrugged. “We live in a world with magic and daemons and lumens and who knows what else. Having more than one mate doesn’t seem all that crazy to me.”

Seraphina’s brows furrowed, and she narrowed her eyes at me. “And since when did you become so wise?”

I smiled smugly. The bubble of silence around us suddenly dissipated, and we turned to see Phenex tackling his brother to the ground.

I laughed, watching them wrestle. I could feel Morax’s joy, and it made my heart soar to see him happy.

We all needed this. And I had an idea how to help my sister to find her happiness too.

“Does this place have a basement?” I asked without preamble.

Seraphina arched a brow at me curiously. “Uh, yeah. Why?”

“Let’s throw a party. A rave. We deserve it. One night with no rules or uncertain futures or stupid cults. Just some fun.”

My sister grinned. “Hell yeah. It’s not exactly set up for that.”

“We can help with that!” Phenex called from his position pinned beneath Morax.

I grinned back at her. This was going to be epic.
