“What the fuck? Go get your own food! I’m not your god damned servant!” Crystal cries and Kelly advances on her.
“Who the fuck do you think paid for your surgeries and for the jobs you’re doing? Now, if you want the rest of your money, you’ll do whatever the fuck I want, which right now means getting us some fucking food!” Kelly yells, and Crystal sputters as she tries to look at Richard and Zac for help, but their empty, blank faces proves neither of them are going to stand up for her.
“Fine,” Crystal hisses and stomps over to the table to grab a notebook. “What am I getting?”
They all rattle off what they want and of course, not one of them asks me what I want. Due to problems today at the tavern, my lunch was cut short so I barely got to eat half of my food and of course, Zac had to fucking kidnap me right before my supper break would have happened so I’m frickin’ starving.
Once Crystal leaves with their orders, Zac and Richard shackle each ankle to the foot of the bed. Kelly eyes the suitcase holding the syringes speculatively and the small nod and smile she gives before masking it makes me extremely nervous for Aiden’s fate. She’s pissed he doesn’t love her the same way she loves him and knowing her sick and twisted mind, I bet she’s going to try to pull the same thing on Aiden. Zac crosses the room and pulls some drinks out of a fridge I hadn’t noticed before. As they all settle in for the long haul, I blink back tears of frustration.
Why does this keep happening to me? Why do I keep getting fixated on by fucking assholes that want to control my life? Why can’t I just live my life with Anthony like I want to?
A shiver racks through me and is quickly followed by another. Goosebumps raise on my arms and I’m not sure if it’s from the cool winter air or from the drug. Since the assholes didn’t bother to put the blanket over me once they were done shackling me to the bed, it’s probably a combination of both.
My mind goes back to the conversation I overheard earlier and X’s words, or at least I’m assuming that guy was X, keep circling around in my mind. Despite my bravado, I’m fucking scared. I don’t want them to inject me with whatever the fuck the drug is that will make me go out of my mind with need. As much as I want to believe I won’t give in, that I won’t beg for sex, that I won’t sign over everything my family has worked for. But I honestly don’t know if that will be the case.
And if it does happen?
What will Anthony do when he finds out what they’ve done to me? Will he toss me aside and abandon me like they think he will?
No.
No, I don’t believe that.
Not after everything Anthony and I have talked about and made plans for.
No, Anthony and the club will come for me. I just need to do my part and pay attention to everything they say in the meantime. I don’t know if they plan to do this to anyone else, but if they are, then we need to stop them before that can happen.
I just hope they get here before it’s too late.
Anthony… Please hurry.
Chapter 84
Reaper
Aswecreepcloserto the center of the warehouse, my blood runs cold when I hear Lark’s pleading voice.
“Please, don’t do this, Zac.”
A smack rings through the air and my blood boils as I get into position. A feeling in my gut has me pulling my second gun.
“You’re the one that pushed me to do this, Lark. If you had just come to me, all of this could have been avoided, but no, you had to shack up with that biker and they’re ruining your life!” Another smack rings through the air and I grit my teeth before forcing my jaw to unclench.
“In position,”I whisper and take a steadying breath as I wait for the others to respond.
“In position,”Devil replies, and I nod toward Atlas who gets ready to open the door.
“In three, two, one, now!”
Atlas flings the door open and I raise my gun, firing off a shot that hits Zac square in the shoulder of the arm that’s holding thesyringe. It clatters to the ground and he fumbles as he reaches behind his back. I squeeze off another shot, this one in his leg and he cries out again as he falls to one knee.
A bullet whizzes by me, just missing my shoulder by inches. I keep my gun trained on Zac and raise the second one to point at Kelly, firing off a shot that knicks her thigh. As expected, her shrill screech fills the air as she cusses me out.
“Keep it up and you’ll have another bullet hole in your body,” I grit out to her and thankfully, she closes her fucking mouth.
I keep my guns trained on both of them and Devil does the same to Richard, though I can’t stop my dark grin when I see three wounds on him—one in his shoulder, one on his side, and one on his shin.
“We got them,”I say into my coms device.“Make sure there’s no one else and then get the van and my truck pulled around back to the docks.”
