He grins that sexy grin of his that makes my heart flip in my chest. “Indeed,” he replies before pushing me onto my back and kissing me again.
Fuck, I can’t get enough of this man.
Thirty minutes later we head downstairs and my face heats at the knowing smirks the guys and Mama Astrid give me, though I purposefully ignore the glares the bunnies are giving me.
“Let’s get some food, Darlin’,” Reaper says quietly into my ear and I nod, eager to hide for a few moments to get myself back under control.
In the kitchen, I open the fridge and find two plates already prepped and wrapped in plastic wrap with our names written on them. Pulling them out, I set them on the kitchen island and grab a couple of bottles of water out of the fridge.
We both eat quickly, aware that the guys are heading out later than planned due to our bedroom activities, but frankly, I’m not upset. Both of us needed some time alone, especially after everything that happened this morning.
A few minutes later, we finish and put our dishes in the dishwasher. He snags my hand as we walk back into the main room and Razor, Punisher, Beast, Python, Odin, and Mama Astrid all get up. Walking over to Mama Astrid, we both hug.
“Say ‘hi’ to the ladies for me.”
She hugs me tighter. “Will do, Sweetheart. You take care now, ya hear?”
I grin and nod. “Will do, you take care as well.”
Reaper walks over to me and pulls me into his arm, kissing me. We pull apart laughing when catcalls once again ring out and I shake my head.
“Be safe, Hercules.”
He gives me another chaste kiss. “Will do. Stay safe, Darlin’.”
“I will.”
He hesitantly steps back and my fingers itch to reach out to him, but I don’t. I know that them going down early to help Patch, Mary, and the rest of the club is the right decision, but it does nothing to quell my fear that something is going to happen here soon. Maybe that’s why Reaper’s hesitating, too. Maybe he can feel that things have changed here as well.
When the door closes behind them, Loki comes over and places his arm around my shoulders. “Come on,ma reine(my queen). How about I show you those other cookbooks to help take your mind off things?”
Sighing, I nod, appreciating the distraction.
Chapter 44
Lark
Afewhourslater,we finish supper and I’ve just put the last of the leftovers in the fridge. Brandy and Candi are doing the dishes per usual, so at least I don’t have to worry about that. I like cooking, but I really don’t like doing dishes.
Stepping out into the main room, I feel myself lagging. Wanting a quiet night alone, and remembering Anthony’s request, I stop over by the table Devil’s at.
“I’m gonna head to the house, guys. See you all in the morning.”
Surprisingly, though it really shouldn’t be, Devil drinks the last dregs of his beer and gets up.
“I think I’m gonna turn in too. I’ll walk out with you.”
Not fighting it, since my nerves are still on high alert and its already pitch-black outside, I grab my coat off the hook and wait as Devil puts his on.
“Come on, Igor,” I call and he gets up from his doggy bed in the corner by the fireplace.
I shiver as we walk down the path leading to the houses, and I can’t help but scan the tree line as we walk. Igor stays close to me, and even his little body seems tense as we walk.
A few feet from our porch, I stop in my tracks. “Devil,” I hiss, my eyes glued to a package sitting in front of the door. I rack my brain, trying to remember if I ordered anything recently, but I can’t think of anything, either for here or at work.
“Fuck,” he curses and pulls out his phone.
“Drake, did you bring any packages to Reaper and Lark’s house earlier today?”
