Leaning down I rest my forehead against hers for a moment before I pull back and walk over to my closet. Reaching up, I pull out the box and hand it to her. She opens it and her smile widens as she runs her fingers over the patch with her road name, Neith. She looks up at me with a knowing smile. I’ve told her a few times about how I think she’s similar to the ancient Egyptian goddess. Thankfully, she never minded the comparison.
Lark pulls it out of the box and slips it on before buttoning it. Pulling her close to me, I kiss her. Not as deep as I want, but I need to feel her lips right now.
A moment later, I pull back and we both turn toward Star. A heartbroken look is written all over her face and her eyes swim with unshed tears. Doc pushes off the wall and walks toward us. When did he get up here?
“You aren’t going to like this, Pres,” he tells me as he hands me what looks like some sort of test strip. “It’s confirmed. These are test strips that you can use to immediately tell if a drink has been spiked or not. That color change means your beer was spiked with a date rape drug.”
Lark’s hands fist the back of my cut and I can feel her anger rolling off her as it melds with mine.
Blood boiling, I look up at Star and her whole damn body damn near pales.
“This is considered your second and third strike, Star. You’re done here. Not only did you interfere in a club member’srelationship, you drugged me. Your President. For the last time, put on your fucking clothes. Now.”
Punisher lets her go and she shakily reaches down and starts putting on her clothes.
Lark pulls her phone out of her pocket, her fingers moving quickly as she most likely texts someone before pocketing her phone.
“You are hereby banned from all Steel Archangel’s businesses. Not just here, but wherever we have a club. The rent on your apartment will no longer be at our rate starting next month. If you can’t afford it, you’re gone. If you see another Old Lady on the street or in a store, you turn and walk away. If youeverinterfere with another brother’s relationship again, you willnotlike the consequences. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” she spits out and sends a look that promises retribution to Lark.
I narrow my eyes at Star. If she ever tries to do anything else toward Lark, woman or not, she’ll end up down in the cellar.
Lark steps forward and puts her hand out. “Give me your room keys.”
Star doesn’t make a move and Lark grins darkly. She looks over at Punisher who gives her a chin lift. He quickly grabs both of Star’s wrists and holds them behind her back. Star struggles, trying to get out of his grip. Lark steps closer and stops in front of her.
“Last chance. Where are your keys? I’ll strip search you if I have to.”
Star purses her lips, refusing to talk. Lark starts patting her down and finds a hidden zipper pocket in her skirt. She pulls out a small key ring with seven keys on it. She glances up at me and the rage in her eyes mirrors mine. Fuck, this might just be the tip of another fucking clusterfuck.
Lark pulls out her own keyring and starts comparing. Thankfully, Lark continued our trend of using the color-coded identifiers for the keys that have the names engraved into the plastic so she’ll be able to tell if any of Star’s keys match a club member’s.
“Reaper,” she calls out when she finds the one to my room. She removes the key from the key ring and hands it to me.
After a few moments, she removes another key. “Devil.”
Devil’s eyes blaze with anger as he takes the key Lark hands him.
“Python.”
“Her room.”
Then a few moments later, she curses under her breath. “Reaper’s office, Reaper’s desk, and Church.”
I’m in front of Star before I even realize that I’ve moved.
“How the fuck did you get all these keys?! What all have you done or taken from these rooms?”
My fingers itch with the need to hit something.
Star stutters but doesn’t answer me.
Lark steps forward and grips her chin hard. She raises a leg and pulls a knife out of her riding boots before holding it close to Star’s face.
Fuck.
I go from soft to hard so fast that I’m left a little dizzy. Seeing Lark armed or with a bow in hand has always turned me on.
