“We fell asleep in Levi’s guest bedroom, that’s what’s wrong. And we’re naked to boot.”
He grins devilishly and leans down, pulling the blanket down to reveal my breasts. He hums as he kisses me. “That you are. Beautifully naked. Just how I like my fiancée.”
A flush runs through me and I know I’m blushing, but I try to get back to my point.
“Charmer that you are, but how exactly are we going to explain this to Levi, Thor, and Dragon as we do the walk of shame?
He kisses down my jaw and I moan. “Easy, Darlin’. After I make love to you again, we shower, put our clothes on, head out and explain we’re engaged. They aren’t going to judge us one iota if that’s what you’re worried about.”
I am, but before I can say anything someone knocks on the door.
“Breakfast is almost ready, love birds,” Mae’s voice rings out, oddly more excited than I thought she’d be and I narrow my eyes at Anthony.
His cheeks pinken a little and a sheepish look comes over him. “She guessed last night and asked when I had planned to ask you. When I said I wanted my ring on your finger before the ball dropped but was worried about taking away from her day, she basically told me to shush and that her and Timber would be happy to share their day with us.”
I stare up at him as I blink, surprised, but then I smile as I shake my head. That sounds so much like Mae. “Well then, we better hop in the shower real quick and get dressed. I bet she’s bursting to find out if you proposed or not.”
Twenty minutes later, because yes, Anthony and I couldn’t resist another quick round in the shower, I twist my hair up into a wet, messy bun on the top of my head but then freeze as I stare at my face and neck in the mirror.
I chew on my lip as I stare at the burns on my face and neck but then shake my head. They all know about them and have most likely seen them at some point the last few days, especially the ones on my arm and hand since I’ve had my sleeves rolled up the entire time.
Taking a deep breath, I walk out into the bedroom to find Anthony sitting on the edge of the bed, already ready, and is scrolling on his phone. His face lights up when he notices me and then it softens when he realizes what I’ve done. He reachesout for me and I step forward in between his legs as he wraps his arms around me.
“You alright, Darlin’?”
I let out a little nervous breath but nod as I run my fingers through his hair. “I think so. I mean, they all know and they’ve seen my arm and hand, but I’ve never done something like this since the fire.” My throat tightens and a part of me hates that I’m becoming emotional like this.
He gives me a quick peck on the lips. “I’m proud of you and proud that you’re taking this step, Darlin’, but if you aren’t ready, that’s okay too. Take this at your pace, no one else’s.”
I nod as I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
“I want to do this, but I’m nervous about how they’ll react.”
“The most I think they’ll do is just try and look when they think you aren’t looking. No one will call you out on them,” he pauses as he frowns, “well, the kids might ask if any of them are here, but I think that would just be a child’s general curiosity. Honestly, I think you’ll get some cuddles from Angel. She’s pretty empathetic like that.”
I smile at the image. “Questions from the kids I won’t mind, and I agree, that’s them just being curious, but you’re right. No one… well, wait. The bunnies aren’t here, are they?”
Anthony frowns. “I honestly have no idea if they are or not, but if any of them say anything they’ll be silenced damn fucking fast. Don’t let anything they say get to you. Since they’ve been kept away for the celebration, they haven’t seen you in my cut yet or with my ring on your finger. They are going to be pissed when they finally realize I truly am off the market, even though I’ve been telling them I’m taken whenever I came here since meeting you.”
I nod, already knowing they’ll be pissed and when we get home, Candi and Brandy are going to be even more pissed than before when they see Anthony’s ring on my finger.
Exhaling heavily, I step back. “Let’s do this then.” I grab my phone off the nightstand and slip it into my pocket. Anthony takes my hand and leads me out to the kitchen where everyone cheers when they see us. Well, almost everyone, because the bunnies are here and Cici, Gemini, and Crystal are all glaring daggers at me.
“And?” Mae prompts Anthony before looking expectantly down at my hand and it’s then that I realize he’s hiding my ring with the way he has my hand in his.
He grins down at me and shifts his hand over mine as he raises it in the air, showing off my ring. “She said yes!”
Chapter 57
Reaper
Idon’tmissCici,Gemini, and Crystal glaring daggers at Lark, but if she notices them, she pays them no mind. As I wrap an arm around her shoulder though, I notice how tense she is and realize she did notice the bunnies. I step back as the ladies and the ‘good’ bunnies, as Levi often refers to them, all swarm Lark, all of them wanting to see her ring.
“Congrats, Reaper,” Thor says as he clasps my shoulder and hands me a mug of coffee.
“Thanks, man,” I tell him as I take a sip.
As the rest of the guys congratulate me, I can’t stop smiling and fuck, I don’t really want to.
