“Anyway…we’re doing something from your romance wishlist. So, pick a song.”
I hand her my phone with my music and she scrolls through until she lands on Creek Will Rise by Conner Smith.
“Perfect choice.” I grin, then blast it through my truck speakers and lower all the windows. “Let’s go, love.”
I leave the lights on and meet her in front of the truck.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t get it to rain, but I’d still love to dance with you.” I hold out my hand and she takes it with a huge smile on her face.
“I can’t believe you remembered this after all these months.”
Pulling her closer, I spin her around before tilting up her face for a kiss.
“I remember everythin’ you tell or ask me.” I wink. “Especially the weird stuff.”
“What weird stuff?” she asks, offended.
Spinning her around again, I laugh at her faux scowl.
“I can think about a dozen or more questions revolving around orgasms, penises and cum, if it hurts the balls to be squeezed?—”
“Those are genuine questions!”
Beaming, I pull her into my chest and wrap an arm around. “And I love every single one you ask me.”
I kiss her forehead and then spin her around a few more times. We continue dancing until the sun sets and then we drive to my house so I can finally give her my gift.
Chapter Thirty-Three
Harlow
Waylon has already made my birthday so magical—one I’ll remember forever—I can’t imagine what other surprises he has planned after everything he did.
This morning, I woke up to the sweetest message from him about how much he loves me and couldn’t wait to see me tonight.
An hour later, someone from The Grindhouse delivered mine and Mom’s favorite lattes and muffins.
At noon, Maria’s Kitchen showed up to bring us our favorite Mexican dishes for lunch.
After that, the bakery owner from Tillie’s showed up to bring us specialty chocolate fudge cupcakes topped with strawberries.
Safe to say, by the time he picked me up, I was more than ready to kiss him.
Scrapbooking with his family and dancing at sunset in front of headlights topped everything off perfectly.
When we enter Waylon’s house, there’s gotta be a hundred balloons covering his living room and a big Happy Birthday banner.
“You’ve gone crazy!” I laugh, removing my jacket and setting it on top of my bag. “How did you even blow all of these up?”
“I recruited a couple helpers.” He smirks. “Bentley came over and then I bribed Wilder to donate some of that hot air in his head.”
“So mean.” I playfully swat his chest and he captures my wrist. “Just wanted today to be extra special for you.”
“You’ve made it unforgettable.”
“Good.” He winks, then takes me by surprise when he lifts me up and carries me through the balloons and into the kitchen.
When he sets me down on the kitchen island, he stands between my legs.
