“These are amazing.” I hold my hand in front of my mouth as I chew while I speak.

Luther grunts in agreement, his mouth also full.

I take another bite of the savory pie.

It’s rich and flaky and may be my new favorite food.

“Please tell me this bake sale happens every day.” I’m sure it doesn’t, but seriously, I could eat this on repeat.

“Every other month, give or take.” Luther lifts a shoulder. “Whenever Courtney and Cook have time to spare.”

I hum and take another bite.

“Care if we join you?” Courtney asks from beside the table, and I jolt. “Sorry.” She grimaces.

“No, sorry, I was too focused on my food.” I lift my paper napkin and wipe it across my mouth, sure I have crumbs on my face. “This is seriously so good.”

“Thanks,” she laughs as she climbs onto the bench next to me.

Sterling sits across from Courtney on the other side of the picnic table, next to Luther.

The men’s shoulders are touching, and I fight down a laugh when Luther rolls his eyes and moves a few inches down the bench, away from Sterling.

“So have you been to any of the restaurants in town?” Courtney asks me.

I glance over at Luther, and he smirks.

“Just, uh, the Inn.” I’m not sure if she’s talking about Lonely or one of the other small towns around here, but I haven’t been to any of them yet.

Courtney bites her lip, and the look on her face says she knows more than she’s saying.

“What?” I prompt, my cheeks already blushing.

Courtney gives me a guilty smile. “His sister was here earlier this morning. She said Rocky met someone at the bar recently, but I didn’t realize that was you.”

“Wait, whose sister was here? Luther’s?”

He told his sister about us?

“Luther?” Courtney scrunches her face up.

“Rocky,” Sterling supplies, tipping his head toward my man.

Courtney looks stunned. “Huh?”

“Last name Rockford.” Sterling continues, not fazed by his wife’s shock.

“Well. Fuck me.” Courtney huffs, picking up her cookie.

Before I can ask Luther more about his sister, Sterling’s phone dings with a text.
