I nod and grin. "Two of them, actually."
Havok's eyes all but bug out of his head before he blinks a million times. "Twins? You are carrying twins? Two babies?"
"Yes..." I giggle way too inappropriately all considering what just went down and where we're currently sitting. "We made two babies and there is no way in hell I was going to let you get out of that shit."
Then the most beautiful smile breaks out over his face as a few more tears fall. "We are having twins. You and I—my beautiful blue light and I—are having twins."
I just nod.
"Oh, my sweet angel. My perfect, beautiful mate. You have given me the greatest gift one could receive, one I do not deserve." Havok closes his eyes, presses his forehead to mine and holds me hard. "You have saved me, my love. You have saved me from the darkness, you are the brightest star in my blackest night sky. You have saved me with your light, your love, and have given me the greatest gift in addition to your heart."
"We saved each other, lovey. We saved each other from a life not worth living and built one together that is worth more than we could have imagined." I kiss him again because I can't not kiss him right now. "We saved each other because our bond is unbreakable and from that bond we created life, two lives that will make ours even better than it was before, and you, you alone are the reason we were able to do that. Because of you, I am safe, our babies are safe, and we will raise them together, live our best life together because you have made it so."
Havok shakes his head but I can feel his smile. "I love you, Cora. Love you and our babies forever and always."
"I love you, too, my heart." Then I grin against his lips. "Now let's go home."
And we do.
His Retribution
Almost Two Years Later.
Icrack one lid as something thumps against the side of my head then grin when I feel tiny fingers stroke my goatee.
Both of my eyes slowly open, blurry with sleep, and as I blink it away I'm met with a pair of electric blue eyes staring back at me.
"Dada!" is whisper-shouted through a mostly toothless grin, Khaos's little diaper-clad butt planted firmly in the middle of my chest.
"Hi, buddy," I whisper back just as he leans forward and slides his hands up my goatee, and sticks his fingers in my nose right before something thumps me again in the temple.
I turn my head slightly just in time to see Dizzkord's barefoot moments before she kicks me in the eye, her tiny toes wiggling around the socket and under my lid.
With a subtle jerk as not to be blinded by my seven-month-old daughter, I move my head enough to see she is in Cora's lap nursing, chubby fingers tugging at the loose strands of her mama's braid. My light is propped up against about twenty pillows, head resting against them, eyes closed, a beautifully serene look on her face while she attempts to catch a little more sleep. Both of her glorious breasts are exposed through the top of her tank top, Dizzy's raven black curls blocking most of one, the other happily, directly in my line of sight.
Obviously Khaos has finished his breakfast and felt the need to wake me, which isn't a half bad way to go about something like that.
I glance at the clock on the wall and sigh gruffly when I see that my son has decided five forty-five is an appropriate time to be active when we have absolutely nothing planned for the day. And it is an absolutely ungodly hour to wake after my angel and I only fell asleep a mere two hours ago, but I guess our babes don't care whether or not that their parents engaged in a night of seemingly endless Earth-shattering sex and collapsed into bed so recently. No, I suppose they could give a rat’s ass about our exhaustion or the cause for it, and are far more concerned about their first breakfast.
"Dada dada!" Baby K whisper-shouts again because that's the only way he likes to talk, probes around my nostrils, then removes his fingers so he can slide his hands up my face, over my eyeballs and into my hair. Khaos blows a raspberry on my cheek, laughs at himself then does it again right on my eyelid and brow only to dissolve into a fit of adorable belly laughs.
Nothing like a baby facemask first thing in the morning.
I grab my son with a grin, lift him so his pudgy, bare belly is level with my mouth, then proceed to deliver so many raspberries against it that his raspy laughter almost sounds like a small roar. He wiggles and laughs, tries to get free, but when I tickle his armpit, Khaos's giggle hits a volume it only does when he's laughing so hard he will most likely end up crapping his pants.
Which he proves as he snorts just like his mama before letting out a long, wet fart.
"Sorry, lovey."
I tilt my head again just in time to see my angel pull her tank top back up, Dizzy squirming around in her lap to get vertical.
"I was trying to keep them from waking you but I'm just so freaking tired I must have dozed off."
With one more raspberry to baby K's belly, I sit him back on my chest and smile at my mate. "You never need to do that my angel, I'd much rather be up with you anyway."
Cora gives me a radiant though sleepy smile, sets Dizzy between us, and scoots down the bed next to me. She grabs my goatee and pulls me toward her, gives me a rather indecent kiss followed by a much more appropriate one for present company, just as Dizzy climbs onto my chest, and pushes Khaos off of me before she plants a big slobbery kiss on my lips.
Baby K chuckles as he rolls toward Cora, my mate wrapping our son in her arms and tickling him until he farts again, both of us going stock still while we wait for the smell.
