Page 118 of His Retribution
I roll my eyes. "Not one tiny shred, but it says that because I'm fae my body is super fertile and emits a scent only my fated mate can smell, one that means when the time is right I will give you all the babies because we were made for each other and no one else. And guess what else?"
Both dark brows raise.
"I'm my own damn birth control."
Havok barks out a laugh that makes me smile so big. "How is that even possible?"
I shrug. "I guess being fae means my body is so in tune with everything around me that it knows when I should and shouldn't let you knock me up."
"Huh." A look passes over his face before he smiles again. "So you will ultimately be the one calling the shots when it comes to when we start our family?"
"It would have been up to me no matter what." I smirk. "I'm the oven, I get to decide when to preheat that shit."
My lovey laughs again, and shakes his head. "You are extraordinary, my angel. You know that?"
"Yep." I pop the P as my eyes drop to the book in my lap. "If I wasn't so damn amazing, you wouldn't..." My eyes all but shoot straight from my skull. "Holy shit!"
My mate immediately straightens and walks toward me, his concern palpable, the feeling rolling off of him in waves. "What is it, angel? What's wrong?"
"I just decided I don't want to be fae anymore."
"What?" Havok frowns as he stops in front of me, his ice blue eyes moving between me and the book.
"Nope. I am so not fae. We were wrong."
"Cora… I don't understand."
I hold the book up as close to his face as I can get, shove my finger into the pages against the passage that has to be some sick joke.
I watch Havok read, more than he really needed to based on how long it takes for my complaint to register, but when it does, he laughs, laughs loud and hard.
"Oh, my sweet angel, that is what has you in a tizzy?"
I glare.
"Just be glad you aren't vampire. It's even longer for them."
My eyes go wide as dinner plates. "Bullshit."
He shakes his head, and laughs harder.
"Well, I don't give a shit about anyone else, there is no fucking way I am going to carry your giant babies for THIRTEEN goddamn months! Do you have any idea what that'll do to someone my size?!"
My jerk-face mate continues to laugh but takes the book from my hand and sets it on the nightstand. "If your body couldn't handle carrying my gigantic babies for thirteen months then The Maker would not have seen fit to pair us as mates."
I roll my eyes. "Now you decide to find religion."
"Not at all, it is simply fact. You, my beautiful light, can handle anything I give you because we were made for each other." Havok puts a knee on the bed in front of me, drops his palms to either side of my hips then leans his face close to mine. "And if I'm not mistaken, you fucking love everything I have given you so far."
I bite my lip to hide my smile but nod as I scoot back a little.
Oh boy.
Havok just successfully ended my study session for today.
"You love that I've given you my heart, my soul, my body." He prowls toward me, forces me back on my elbows. "You love that I give you shit constantly." His lips barely ghost along the column of my throat, right over his mark. "You love that I've given youmôj znacka." Havok nips my earlobe as he reaches between us and uncrosses my legs, making room for his hips to settle between my thighs. "You love all the orgasms I give you, that's for damn sure."
My head lolls to the side as the sharp tips of his fangs slide along my neck.
