Page 119 of His Retribution
"You have loved every single thing I've given you, in this life and the last, so I have no doubt that carrying my gigantic babies for thirteen months will be any different."
He's totally right.
I already love our babies even though they aren't even a sure thing yet, and when the time comes, I'll love them even more. I'd carry Havok's babies for five years if I had to, just because they were his and they were created from our love, made from pieces of our hearts held together by our bond.
"You just have to promise me one thing," I basically groan while Havok peppers kisses along my heated flesh.
"Anything, angel."
Somehow, without use of his hands because they are still caging me in, my lovey gets his sweats off in record time, and when his monster cock nudges my core, hard steel under the softest silk, I almost forget what the hell I was going to say.
"Angel?" He grins against my shoulder as he runs the head through my super wet pussy.
My eyes flutter closed as he does it again. "You have to, have to promise that I get a free pass for those thirteen months." I moan, moan low in my throat as Havok slowly slides inside me. "No knee jerk reactions to my out of control hormones while a baby the size of a tank grows inside me."
The growl that rumbles up from his chest is so fucking hot I can't stand it. "I will worship at your feet today and every day that follows, worship all that is my mate as I have for two hundred and seventy-seven years." His hips slide back then snap against mine. "And when we are blessed with a young who will no doubt be the most beautiful, most bullheaded, most intelligent and fierce creature to ever exist, I will cater to your every need, feed every craving, soothe every ache and pain, quell every worry." Havok lifts his head and looks me in the eye, and smirks as his hips draw back. "And I will take in stride each mood swing without too many smartass remarks."
My argument dies before it could ever live as my mate, my love, snaps his hips forward again, the insanely slow pull followed by the deep, brutal thrust has me unraveling quickly.
"Now, let us practice the act of making that incredible young so when the time is right we have no issue."
Which is what we do for the rest of the day.
Best. Birthday. Ever.
Surprise Surprise
Iam a dead man walking.
Yes, I fear that this may be my last day on Earth, borderline immortality be damned.
There are very few ways to kill a vampire, to well and truly end their life, and even my genetic anomalies are no match for them.
Exposure to the sun.
A clean hit to the heart with a weapon laced in vampire blood or removing the heart altogether.
Decapitation used to be effective but the way vampire genetics have evolved over time has proved it to be almost impossible to do. Our evolution has created something in our makeup that seems to have made our neck, the spine, almost indestructible. It can be broken, pierced, but not severed and no one seems to know how it happened.
Since the sun seems to no longer be a threat, at least for now, that leaves only one way to truly kill me, something my mate is very aware of and the exact reason I'm convinced I'm walking the Green Mile instead of through the grounds of our home.
My mate, my beautiful blue light, my angel, will no doubt slaughter me once she realizes the reason for my impromptu walk outside to watch the sunset, that I'm not simply doing it because I'm trying to be romantic or some other bullshit.
No, my mate will view this stroll through the property to the lowest point of the valley as a great betrayal, will look at me as though I am marching her in front of a firing squad once she realizes my purpose.
I'm deceiving my Cora in order to get her to the surprise party the other females planned to celebrate her first twenty-seventh birthday.
And my angel fucking hates surprises.
Which is why I will be lucky if this merely results in a week of sleeping on the couch or withholding sex for just as long. There is a better chance Cora will punch me in the dick, ask if there is some sort of vampire or fae version of divorce, then attempt to drive my motorcycle off the property to do as much damage as possible on her way out.
The chances of any other reaction are slim to none, but I shall remain hopeful.
Hopeful or just plain stupid.
"I wish I had someone I could ask about all this stuff," Cora says at my side. "I mean, like why do I get such a boost in energy after I feed from you? Is that some more intense version of what feeding off of someone's essence is like? Is it even possible for fae to take on abilities and traits of a non-fae mate? Am I going to have fangs forever? Not that I mind, I actually kind of like the tiny points and how they look but still. It's one thing to have no one to ask about regular fae stuff but all this other stuff, the stuff that could be specific to you and me..." She squeezes my hand and rests her head against my shoulder. "I just wish there were a way to find out everything, to get answers to at least some of the questions I have."
My light has been very engrossed in the book Henrich gave her, even read it aloud to me in between our excessive amounts of love making. And though it was rather fascinating, I found it to be a much needed distraction as I wound up in a group text with my brother’s mates about planning a party to celebrate her birth.
