“This doesn’t mean I forgive you,” I told Az as I moved beside him. Then I grabbed Cami before she could answer his statement about a safe word and devoured the shit out of her. She was half standing, half in her chair, and shaking.
Az helped her up, his hands going to her hips as he positioned her between us while I claimed her mouth. Thoroughly. Passionately.Utterly.
I’d shadowed right to her after Lucifer laid out the terms of his proposed deal. I’d expected to tell her everything. But then I’d found her straddling Az, and all I’d seen wasred.
Because I’d assumed his Phoenix had seduced her.
After hearing his full explanation, I realized it’d been Az—the man—who had broken through her walls.
She’d forgiven him. I saw that now. Understood it.
But I wasn’t ready to do the same.
Not after learning about everything he’d kept from me.
Pushing all that away, I focused on Cami. Her lips. Her pert tits. Hermoans.
Az was kissing a path up her neck, his existence very much noted. Not just because Cami was arching into his touch, but because I couldfeelhis desire. His heat. Hispower.
He was barely holding on to his control, his need for us a sensual presence that threatened to enslave us all.
“Safe word,” he repeated against Cami’s ear. “Name it.”
Cami shivered, her lips trembling against mine.
I released her to hear what she might say, curious as to what word she might pick.
“Camping,” she breathed, making me blink.
“Camping?” I repeated, the term one that took immediate effect. All thoughts of kissing her vanished as I asked, “Why?”
“Because Ihatecamping,” she muttered, her nostrils flaring with her proclamation. “My parents were fond of it when I was a kid. But every time we went somewhere, it was for some sort of fucked-up lesson. Like setting the Everglades on fire and leaving me with instructions to fix it.”
My eyes widened. “Why the hell would they do that?”
“That’s how you knew what to do with the vortex in the Marsh Lands, why you blasted it with that maelstrom of warmth and water,” Az said, a hint of awe in his tone. “I heard you thinking about the Everglades during our training, but I didn’t put it together until now. You learned to do that…”
“During one of our infamous family camping trips,” she finished for him. “Yeah.”
“Fuck,” he growled. “When I find your father—and I will—I’m going to fucking annihilate him.”
“No.” Cami spun to face him. “That honor is mine.” She poked Az’s bare chest. “You can hold him down, or knock him around a bit, butIwill be doing the killing.”
Flames. Her fiery response made my dick that much harder. And it seemed to have the same impact on Az because he actually groaned.
Then he grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her to him in a brutal kiss that had Cami instantly melting into his embrace. I stroked my hand along her spine to the hem of her tank top, my fingertips tracing the material as my lips whispered a spell.
Purple mist-like fire danced along my skin, sending little gold flickers up into the air. It wasn’t exactly what I’d had in mind, my magic slightly altered from mating Az, but the spell was what I desired.
With a softly uttered command, the enchantment left my hand to eat through the fabric of her shirt, causing her to still between us.
“Relax.” My lips went to her shoulder, my touch gentle. “I’m just removing your clothes so Az can keep fucking you with his tongue.”
The Commander growled in approval, his grip on her nape tightening as he re-angled her to receive his sensual assault.
Cami trembled, then sighed as my magic warmed her skin, turning the pale color a pretty pink as the enchantment traveled over her.
Her tank top and pants disappeared, as did the undergarments beneath, leaving her gloriously naked between us.
