PROLOGUE: MELEK
“In order for me to offer you solace, a home, your Warden position, access to the Hell Fae Source, and your Hell Fae Bride of choice, you’ll need to become my mate, Ajax.”
Ty’s words played through my head on repeat, causing my lips to curl more with each echo.
Of course, Ajax’s reaction hadn’t been as exciting as I’d hoped.
“You have one week to decide, Ajax. Choose wisely. It could be the last decision you ever make,” Ty had said.
Ajax’s eyes had simply narrowed for half a second. Then his features had hardened into a mask of stone, giving nothing away. “You’ll have my answer at the Interrealm Fae Ball.”
With that anticlimactic statement, he’d vanished. I could have tracked him, but I suspected our Warden needed some space to think.
I’d grant him that.
And entertain my king instead.
Hmm, I hummed, still lounging about on my throne while Ty relaxed nearby. He appeared to be pleased by Ajax’snonchalance.Potentialandmatekept playing over in his mind, followed by a rare hint of admiration.
Admiration he typically reserved for me.
And sometimes for Az.
My eyebrow inched upward as I pushed upright to saunter toward him. “Are you considering what our dear Warden would be like in bed, my king?” I asked him.
Ty’s ocean-like eyes met mine. “The only one I want in my bed is you, little prince.”
My eyebrow winged a little higher. “Oh?” I paused between his sprawled thighs, his relaxed posture at odds with the turmoil darkening our bond.
The Hell Fae Realm was under attack. Vortex-like portals were threatening our kingdoms. And we were not any closer to discovering the culprit behind the assaults.
There were also several false leads.
Like Maliki in the Netherworld Kingdom.
He’d opened that portal for the Ghouls to escape into an alternate reality to participate in some glorified mating ritual known as Monsters Night.
Thus far, it seemed coincidental.
But my king didn’t believe in coincidences.
Something larger was at play here, disturbing his bride trials and wounding his previously immaculate reputation.
On top of all that, he had uncertainties within his inner circle.
Uncertainties surrounding Camillia De la Croix.
I might be partially to blame for that.
However, I wouldn’t apologize.
She was the key. Thesolution. And the Hell Fae King was slowly learning why. Each layer peeled away revealed more of her potential underneath. Soon, he would desire her as much as I did.
Dropping to my knees before him, I gently palmed his thighs. “You know what I think?” I asked him casually, my touch gliding upward at a gradual pace.
He canted his head to the side, his long hair falling in dark waves over his muscular shoulders. “That you want to celebrate your victory by sucking my cock?”
My lips curled. “Yes, that,” I admitted. “But I also think you’re lying to yourself, Ty.” My hands reached for his pants, my thumb deftly undoing the button above his fly.
