Page 108 of Hell Fae Prince
Several Hell Fae exchanged looks, then glanced back at us with wide-eyed expressions.
“And for those of you who really need a lesson in respect, let me remind you that Azazel is one of my mates.” The words echoed on the screen, suggesting he was broadcasting these words to the entire Hell Fae Kingdom. “Which means Ajax is now linked directly to me.”
He locked eyes with the Hell Fae who had snapped at me over Kuro.
Then looked at the other fae who had echoed his opinion of me not belonging here.
“I strongly encourage you to remember these mate-bonds and their importance to me as your Hell Fae King. Because thenext time you choose to insultmyWarden, I won’t be kind in return.”
Both Hell Fae looked pale, the pair of them mumbling apologies before quickly heading toward the nightclub exit.
I gaped at them, then at Lucifer.
He’d just…claimed me.
Not in an unbinding mating, but in his own way as king. And he’d ensured the entire kingdom knew I belonged to him.
Which meant Cami belonged to him, too.
Or she would, anyway, as soon as she finished mating Melek.
“Now have I made my intentions clear?” Lucifer asked as he returned to our table. “Or do you still have questions?”
I stared at him.
Did I still have questions? Yes. Thousands.
But I couldn’t organize them all in a coherent train of thought, so I just… shook my head.
He smiled. “Good. Then let’s move forward, Warden. I’ll earn your forgiveness in time, prove my worth to you as a potential mate—not just to you, but possibly to Camillia, too—and maybe one day, we’ll complete this circle. Until then, I could use some insight into this Vivaxia situation.”
Shit. He must have overheard my comments about him not being worthy enough for Camillia.
Or perhaps he’d read them through Az’s thoughts.
Regardless, Lucifer didn’t appear to be angry so much as invigorated. He’d also stated that the onus fell on him to prove his worth—an interesting way of phrasing it.
“What kind of insight?” Az asked, focusing on the last part of what Lucifer had said. “Do you have an idea of what Vivaxia might have done to Cami?”
My jaw clenched, the reminder of what Az could sense inside Cami suddenly the most important topic in my mind. We allknew that Virtuous Fae had done something to her. The question waswhat?
That’d been one of the only reasons I’d been okay with leaving her in Melek’s care. If anyone could solve this riddle, it was another Virtuous Fae.
But naturally, he was choosing to play with our mate instead.
Maybe finishing their bond would help protect her.
Or maybe it would make things worse.
“Perhaps I should talk with Zenaida,” I said, voicing the thought out loud before I fully considered it. Yet it seemed like a good place to start. If anyone could provide us with information on the future, it was her.
Of course, it would be uttered in the form of a riddle.
But I’d grown up with Shade. I understood riddles well, thanks to his many teachings.
Melek also might be able to help,I realized, his mating Cami suddenly having a bit more of an appeal. Because the riddle master himself would finally be on our side.
Lucifer studied me for a moment and nodded. “Zen might offer some interesting insight. We should also consider asking Zakkai to come by for a visit.”
