Page 104 of Hell Fae Prince
The skyline glowed with Hellfire, the sight making me feel at home despite its differences from the Midnight Fae Realm. Fortunately, Kuro didn’t seem to mind. He simply relaxed on my shoulder like he was settling in for the long term.
I sort of hoped he was.
I’d missed the little guy. And I was forever thankful to Shade for keeping an eye on him when I’d disappeared.
Typhos thinks you’re goading him with your silence,Az warned me.
I’m not.
I know,he replied.Just sharing his mood.
As a warning?I guessed.
No, as a way of demonstrating good faith,he told me.Typhos doesn’t like being goaded, yet he’s exuding the utmost patience right now while your mind wanders. It’s a sign that he cares about your well-being, Ajax. He’s not trying to force you to answer him. He’s waiting for you to come to him. I imaginethat’s why he’s left the mating open-ended, too. He wants you, but he won’t force you.
I nearly snorted at that. Typhos Lucifer gave orders. I obeyed them. That was how our relationship had always worked.
But rather than release the sardonic sound, I focused on Lucifer’s question again. What else do I want?
“Honestly, I just don’t want Cami to be hurt,” I told him by way of a reply. He’d offered me my old job back and then some. “And I want to be able to see her whenever I want, even when she’s in your bedroom.”
A new suite. Amenities. Additional staff. Even a new weapons collection.
That was what he’d offered me thus far, in addition to my title.
But those bribe-like offers meant nothing to me.
Cami and Az were all I cared about. I wanted access to both of them, even if they were in Lucifer’s personal territory. They were my mates.Mine.
“I’ll never keep you from Camillia or Azazel,” Lucifer told me. “I respect mate-bonds.”
Theas should youwas definitely attached to that statement, probably because he’d picked up on my frustrations around Melek and Cami mating. Or maybe he’d caught the uncertainty through Az’s thoughts.
Regardless, I nodded. Because on that term, we could absolutely agree.
I might not like Melek mating Cami, but I trusted her to make her own choices. I’d also vowed to never force her hand again—after that incident in Lucifer’s nightclub.
A nightclub that was slowly coming into view now.
Fuck.
I hadn’t realized where we were going until now, my mind too consumed by Lucifer’s comments and Cami’s arousal.
We were no doubt headed here for whatever act of humiliation Lucifer had in store for me.
Fine, I thought.Fucking fine.
He’s not planning anything nefarious,Az promised me.
I nearly shot back a snide remark about not trusting him either—especially after what he’d done to me the last time we were here. However, I bit my tongue.
I’d leashed Az with that spell. He’d leashed me with his mind. Our crimes might have varied, but the results were similar.
And bringing all that up now would put us at odds with one another.
We couldn’t live in the past any longer. We needed to move together into the future. As mates.
His palm ghosted along my lower back, like he’d heard my inner turmoil and agreed. Flames, he probably had. Because he leaned in to kiss my neck just as we stepped up to the nightclub entrance.
