My nostrils twitched as the heat of ash tinged my nose. I’d locked Melek and Azazel out of my mind, but it seemed I hadn’t done a good enough job of it with my Commander.

Or perhaps it was my blocking him that coaxed him to visit.

Because I’d promised to keep our communications open, which I had. They’d just been a bit… throttled.

“Why does your mind feel like stone?” Azazel asked as he lingered behind me. “What have you discovered, Typhos?”

I didn’t turn around to face him. Everything felt too raw after Vita had forced the ancient memories back into my mind, memories I had intended on burying indefinitely.

Alas, now I needed to recall everything.

“I know what Vivaxia did to Camillia,” I said as I brushed my fingers over Vita’s leather cover. “And if we don’t act fast, it could be the end of us all.”
