I’d done what I could to protect her. And now, I would provide her with the ultimate form of protection—by marrying my soul to hers.Indefinitely.
If the impossible happened and our spirits didn’t mate, it would hurt. A lot. It’d be the equivalent of feeling her death.
I kept that part to myself, though, as only I would experience that pain. Not her.
Besides, I was certain our souls would accept each other. There was no alternative. Camillia De la Croix was meant to be mine.
And one day soon, she would become my Hell Fae Queen.
Her jaw ticked as she glowered at me.
Then she took her dagger and sliced her palm.
I cut mine for a third time, ensuring the wound was still open, and grabbed her hand before she could pull away.
“Now we say the words together,” I reminded her. “Ready?” She nodded, so I counted down from three, and after I reachedone, we both said, “Nadeehar Laki Nafsi.”
Warmth flooded through me as ethereal energy flowed around us.
Cami gasped, her hand clutching mine. “Melek.”
I yanked her into my lap, my wings flaring from my back to wrap us in a cocoon of feathers. But the magic was too powerful, the essence bleeding into every inch of our beings as our souls connected for eternity.
I told you we were soul mates,I breathed into her mind.
She clung to me, her legs straddling my hips as gold flares flickered around us.This is amazing.
This is just the beginning,I replied, my lips seeking hers as warmth blossomed inside my chest. Searing warmth.Excitingwarmth.
Because our bond was complete. Our souls fully joined. Our powers mingling.
My wings stretched again, my feathers ruffling as our energy created a long golden ribbon of silky vitality. It wound around our joined hands, sealing our bond in a symbol of unity.
Cami sighed, her skin glittering with the evidence of our connection. “I feel so alive.” Her voice held a wistful note to it. “Like I’mflying.”
“Mmm, I’ll happily take you to the stars, little angel.” I tugged on our bound hands, my opposite palm going to her hip. But before I could kiss her, she glanced down.
“Another rope.” She stared at the item in question. “Is this why you always talk about ribbons? Because of the bond magic creating them?”
I grinned. “The bond didn’t create them, love. My power did. It’s a symbol of our mating—a gold strand that can never be broken despite how soft and delicate it may appear.”
She studied the pretty fabric. “It’s unending.”
“Indeed.” The ribbon might appear neatly bound now, but there were no ends to the fabric. When unraveled, it would go on and on for as long or as little as we desired. “It represents us.”
Cami pulled on the bond, the silk easily falling into her hand as she slowly unwound it from our joined palms. “I want to understand you better, Melek. I want to trust you.”
I admired her profile, my mind helping me to understand what she was really saying. “You want me to tie you up.”
She gazed up at me through her thick lashes. “I want to learn.”
Hmm. If I recalled correctly, she’d asked Az for a similar lesson—something I’d overheard in her head last week. Except that lesson had been about his need to release his excess power.
This was about my preference for rope play.
My desire to bind her.
To dress her in silk and tease her until she begged me to fuck her.
