"Look, Lisa, I can see the horses." Jeff pointed to the corrals and the large barn that lined Beau's property.
"From Lisa's window, you can see the ocean," Beau told them.
"Really?" Lisa turned and darted out of Jeff's room to the one directly across the hall with her name on the door.
"Go with her, I'll stay with Jeff." Parson smiled.
"Thanks." Beau brushed a kiss over his lips before leaving.
"So, do you think you're going to like it here?" Parson asked, moving closer to the window.
"Yeah, it's so nice. I've never been in a place this nice before." Jeff turned and looked around the room. "Is that really my bed?"
"It is." Parson patted the queen-sized bed.
"I don't have to share?"
"Only if you and Lisa want to. This is your room. You can come in here and be alone if you want, you can invite friends to hang out, you can have your sister hang out. It's all up to you."
"I don't have any friends." Jeff jumped up on the bed.
"You will. Once you start going back to school, you'll make some. And, Faith is your friend. I'm sure she'll be over here a lot."
Jeff shrugged.
"Is anything wrong?"
"What if someone hurts me here?" Jeff ran his hand over the comforter.
"No one is going to hurt you here. If something happens, if someone makes you uncomfortable, if someone hurts you, you tell Beau or me. I'll be around visiting. You can always come to me and I'll fix the problem. I know your last caseworker didn't, but I will. I promise." He swore that even if things didn't work out with him and Beau, he'd still check in weekly with the kids until they were more comfortable.
"Is Beau your boyfriend?" Jeff asked.
At that exact moment, Beau came to stand in the doorway. Their gazes met, but Beau seemed content to stay there and wait for Parson's answer.
Parson smiled. "Would it bother you if I dated him?"
"No, I like having you around. So does Lisa. She said you make her laugh."
"I'm glad you both like me. I love being around the two of you. As for Beau, we are dating and seeing if we get along well enough to maybe be boyfriends. But I promise you, no matter what happens with me and Beau, we're both always going to be here for you. Okay?"
Jeff nodded. "I think you should make him your boyfriend. He's happier when you're around."
Beau chose that moment to step into the room. "I agree. I am happier when Parson is around." He came over and wrapped his arms around Parson from behind and kissed the spot directly below his ear.
Parson prayed his body didn't respond to Beau's touch. The last thing he wanted was to get aroused with the kids around.
"Lisa wants to show you her view," Beau told Jeff. "Parson and I are going to go downstairs into the kitchen. You two feel free to look around the house while I order pizza. You can find us when you're done."
"You mean we can just walk around?" Jeff's eyes went wide.
"Yep. The only places I don't want you to play is in my bedroom and in my office. You can peek in and look around, but if you're going to play, I'd like you to find another spot. You'll find a big tv in the basement with a bunch of movies. When we go shopping, we'll get a gaming system and have someone come help us set it up so you guys can play games. There's a weight room downstairs too, but I'd rather you not go in there without me. It can be dangerous if you aren't careful. I'm sure you both will find your favorite spots in the house. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me." Beau nodded to the door. "Better not keep Lisa waiting."
Jeff nodded and took off out of the room.
"Alone at last." Beau turned Parson in his arms.
"If you wanted alone time, taking on two kids wasn't the way to go about it," Parson teased.
