"Anyway, back to the adoption, I'll have Beau call you and we'll set up a time for you to meet Eric. Just know, if it's not a good match, there are others. Don't take him just because we think you'd fit together well," Parson warned them.
"We won't. We wouldn't do that to a child. We'll make sure everything is right." Noam leaned against Kasey.
"What about you two?" Beau glanced at Xander and Matt.
"What?" Xander's eyes went wide.
"Another kid?" Beau laughed.
"Hell no. You know Faith, right? Do you think we need another kid? I've got a fifteen-year-old going on thirty, acting like she's in medical school already, while asking to go to some rock concert with guys with blue hair. Hell no, we don't need another kid." Xander shook his head.
Beau laughed. "You know I'll take her off your hands anytime."
"Don't tell her that. We argue so much right now, she might take you up on it." Matt sighed.
"She's a teenager. She'll get over it." Becca smiled.
"I sure hope so." Xander sighed. "I'm exhausted trying to understand her."
Beau sat forward. "Well guys and gals, if there's nothing else, I'm going to steal Parson and we're going to head home."
"Nope, you're good." Bryon looked at Parson. "It was nice to meet you. I look forward to seeing you again."
"Thanks." Parson stood. "I enjoyed meeting all of you." He moved to stand beside Beau.
Beau took his hand as he looked at Matt. "Tell Faith, pictures with Santa next weekend."
"She said she's too old now." Matt sighed.
"Tell her she's never too old. If I can do it, so can she. Besides, she needs to come with Lisa and Jeff so they can start the tradition." Beau turned to Parson. "I've taken Faith to get pictures every year since we met. She's not changing things up now because she thinks she's too old."
"I'll let her know, but you may have to do your own talking on this one. I'm her father, why would she listen to me?" Matt rolled his eyes.
"Have her call me." Beau tugged Parson's hand gently, leading them out of the room.
Once outside, Beau pulled Parson into his arms. "I can't wait to get you alone tonight. I feel like it's been forever since we've done anything but sleep when we're in bed together."
"Oh, I planned to go home." Parson tried to keep his face serious.
"Oh…" Beau took a step back.
Parson laughed. "I'm kidding. Take me home. I want you as bad as you want me. I'm not headed home."
"Thank God." Beau kissed him hard before going to the car.
Parson slid into the passenger seat, happier than he'd been in a long time. He wasn't going home to an empty house, he wasn't spending the night alone. Beau was the best thing that had happened in his life, and slowly, he was realizing that this really could be it for him.
As Beau pulled out on the road, Parson was hoping they had forever.
CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN
The kids were in bed by the time they got home, and Beau was thankful for that. As much as he wanted to hug them goodnight, he also wanted Parson in the worst way. It was the first night in forever that they didn't have any distractions, and while Parson did have to be up early for work, Beau would take full advantage of the time they had together.
It was never enough.
He hated their time apart. Between his odd hours at the hospital, spending time with the kids, Parson's job, and the team, every moment they could sneak together meant something.
"I was starting to wonder if I'd ever get you alone." Beau smiled as he shut and locked his bedroom door.
