Beau shook his head. "Not yet. I wasn't in the best mood to go see them at the hospital."
"Will you tell her?"
"Not what I did. I will let her know they caught one of the men who'd hurt them, but she can't know about the team. You shouldn't even know about the team."
"You're adopting Lisa and Jeff, right?"
"I'm going to be their foster parent for now. We'll work toward adoption." He met her stare. "Are you okay with that?"
"Of course. I like Lisa and Jeff, and you'll be a great dad for them. I'm glad you decided to take them. I saw how happy they were when you told them." Faith pulled a pillow onto her lap. "What about Parson? You had another date, right?"
Beau smiled. "We did."
"Well, how did it go?"
"I don't kiss and tell."
"Oh, did you just kiss?" She nudged his arm.
"Faith…"
"What? I want to know. I know people kiss. I see my dads kiss all the time. I'm not ten anymore. I know what people do when they're dating."
Beau shook his head. "You're impossible."
"Tell me. How was your date?"
"It was good. I just went to his place and talked about a fundraiser we're going to be working on. We kissed a little and both agreed we want to go out again." He was not about to give her more details.
"You didn't stay the night?" Faith waggled her eyebrows.
"No, I didn't stay the night. We're taking things slow." He rolled his eyes at her. "And you shouldn't be asking questions like that anyway."
"How am I supposed to learn anything if I don't ask?"
He wasn't sure how to answer that. "Not from me, that's for sure. Ask Xander. He's good at talking about stuff like that."
"Yeah, no. Then I'll imagine him with Dad and get all disgusted." She made a gagging sound. "So you're going to keep seeing him."
"I want to, but I'm not so sure I should."
"Why not?"
"I'm afraid he'll find out about STK." Beau reached for a handful of popcorn.
"Is that such a bad thing?" Faith asked. "You guys told Dad about it, and Kasey told Noam."
Beau shook his head. "Your dad was already so deep into things searching for you that it wasn't a huge step to learn about what we did. And Kasey, hell, he put himself in danger of going to prison for the rest of his life. It could have gone either way."
"But Kase knew in his heart that what he had with Noam was strong enough to get them through anything. He trusted that Noam loved him enough not to turn him in. You just need to ask yourself if what you have with Parson is strong enough to handle you telling him."
"I'm not sure we are there yet. We've only been out a few times." Beau leaned back against the pillow, closing his eyes.
"Or you don't want to admit you are," Faith told him.
"It's not just my life I am putting at risk by telling Parson. The whole team is at risk. You could lose both your dads if anything ever happened, Faith."
"You don't think I know that? I think about it all the time, but I know that what you guys do is more important than me and my fears. I know that you are saving kids. You'll never understand how it feels to have someone walk in and take you out of your own personal hell. I know that feeling. When I realized I was being saved, when I saw the police come in and realized it was all over, that is something that I'll never forget. It was all because of you guys, because of the team. I can't let my own selfish needs stop you guys from helping more kids."
