"I'm here if you need anything," Carter told him.
"Thanks." Beau headed out the door. No matter how angry Bryon was, and no matter if it really did cost him his place on the team, Beau had no regrets. He did what he thought was right, and Bryon's anger wasn't going to change that. He'd done what he had to do.
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
Beau glanced at his phone, hesitating to answer even though it was Faith. He'd never ignored her call unless he was with a patient, and it didn't feel right to ignore it now just because he was in a shitty mood. "Hello?"
"Hey, want to come over for a movie night?" Faith asked.
"Who told you?" Beau sat up on the couch.
"Xander mentioned you were having a bad day."
Beau smiled. "Yeah, it's sorta sucked."
"Come spend the night with me. We'll make popcorn and watch some scary movie," Faith told him.
"I'm not sure I'm the best company right now."
"Which is why you should be with me. I don't care if you're good company. How many nights have I been in a mood and you've put up with me?"
"Not too many."
"But there have been a few."
He sighed. "Okay, I'll be there in thirty. Who's home?"
"Everyone, but they'll leave us alone."
"Only for you, Faith," He smiled.
"I know. That's why I called."
"See you in a few, and I'm not staying late. It is a school night." He hung up and forced himself off the couch.
Only Faith could draw him out of the house when he was in a mood like this. Xander and Matt knew that so he was sure they'd put Faith up to call. Not that she wouldn't have done it herself anyway.
A quick change of clothes and he left the house, wondering what Faith knew. They didn't talk about the stings with her, but she was aware of what the team did. Did she know he'd gone out on his own? Would that bother her?
He worried as he drove, trying not to overthink things. Like always, Faith would let him know what she knew and he'd know by that how much more to tell her.
She was sitting on the front steps as he pulled into the driveway.
He smiled as he got out of the car. "Did I take that long?"
She grinned. "No, I just figured I'd wait for you. I got tired of watching my dads be all lovey after Xander got back home."
"Can't blame them for being happy to see each other." Beau pulled Faith into a hug. "Just like I'm happy to see you."
She hugged him back. "I'm glad you're safe."
He sighed as he pulled back and looked down at her. "How much do you know?"
"Enough." She shrugged.
"You mad?"
"I haven't decided yet. I figured I'd let you explain then I'd decide if I should be upset."
