“I love you, my Lilly,” he replies, placing a kiss against my lips before pulling away and out of me. I hiss as he leaves my body, but Kai gives me no time to mourn the loss as he moves up between my thighs.

We stay in our tent, making love and dozing until the sun kisses the horizon and it’s time to go back to the last piece of us; our daughter.

After cleaning up, we walk through the forest, the sound of the dawn chorus serenading us as we make our way home. I look at my soulmates, my lovers and husbands, and am filled with a sense of peace as I walk, seeing a similar expression on their faces.

Somehow, we found each other, and amongst all of the terrible things that have happened to each of us, we found ourselves too.

We discovered a love that defies all the monsters of the world, that dares them to try and rip us apart, to break our bond.

We brought new life into a world that was full of darkness, and now as the sun rises I can’t help but think of all the light that is to follow, chasing away the dark, until it is all that is left.

We have been released from our shackles and bound ourselves together, our hearts captured in a love so strong that it can never be broken.
