“You know…you…me…her in the middle…”
“Shut the fuck up, Adam!”
“Jesus, Gray, I was only joking. You’ve really got it bad, don’t you?”
I couldn’t bring myself to look back at them. I was mortified. Thankfully, the venue was filling quickly and it was getting too loud to carry on any sort of conversation. The singer appeared on stage, and I proceeded to take as many photos as I could in the first five minutes, because the next five minutes consisted of me disappearing into the crowd and exiting through the back.
Not long after I arrived home, my doorbell rang. With a grunt, I pressed the buzzer to let him in. I knew who it was.
“Why did you leave without saying anything?” Grayson asked as soon as I opened the front door.
I crossed my arms and leant against the doorframe. “I didn’t think I needed to.”
“You could’ve at least returned my messages. I was worried.”
I glanced over at my cell phone, sitting face-down on the kitchen bench and turned back. “I’m perfectly capable of looking after myself, Grayson.”
He sighed. “I know, but—”
“Then why did you come tonight?”
His jaw clenched. “Because I know what he’s like.”
My blood boiled. “What did you think would’ve happened if you didn’t show? Did you think I would’ve fucked him?”
He frowned. “No.”
“Am I that easy to get into bed?” My eyes burned.
He shook his head. “No.”
“Then why where you there?”
“I was jealous!” he blurted. “I hated the thought of him taking you out, when I never have.”
“Oh.” My gaze softened.
His shoulders slumped as he ran his hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, it was a dick move.”
A small smile played on my lips. “That really hurt, didn’t it?”
“What did?” His brow furrowed.
“Apologising.”
He smirked and shoved his hands into his pockets. “We Harlows aren’t designed for such things.”
I shook my head with a chuckle and pulled him inside by his collar. “Come to bed, we have work tomorrow.”

The next day, everyone was frantically finishing up jobs in order to get home to their families for Thanksgiving. Most of the staff originated from outside Manhattan and were leaving early to beat the traffic. Amy’s dad lived upstate, Pete’s parents lived in Philly, and Grayson…well, he and Adam were returning to the West Coast.
“What are your plans for Thanksgiving?” Grayson asked casually as I watered the plant he deliberately refused to care for to ensure my visit.
“Um…I’m just…staying here, I guess.”
His gaze shot up from his computer. “You have no other family in the US?”
