Page 26 of Capturing Love
“It’s your fault, you know,” I added, playfully narrowing my eyes.
He raised his brow. “How so?”
I shrugged. “Just something you said.”
“Obviously the smartest thing I’ve ever said.” He offered me a cheeky grin and I giggled. Yep, just like a little school girl.
Grayson spun me around and brought me back in. “So what’s the problem?”
“We work together.” I groaned.
“Oh…” He nodded slowly. “Well, you know what they say. You should never mix business with pleasure. It’s a Harlow rule.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, falling silent as I enjoyed our gentle rhythm. His chin grazed the top of my head and I closed my eyes. “What did I say in Vegas that made you change your mind about Melanie?”
He lifted my chin with his finger and tucked a loose wave behind my ear. “It wasn’t just something you said.” His throat bobbed up and down as he swallowed. “It was you.”
I sucked in my breath and held it.
His twinkling eyes penetrated mine. “I’ve never met anyone like you, Josie.”
“You…you barely know me,” I rasped, heart racing.
He lowered his head until his warm breath caressed my shoulder, causing each hair on my body to stand on end. “That’s what scares me,” he whispered.
Pure desire paralysed me. “I think we should leave,” I blurted, unfazed by my unusual forwardness and the fact dinner had yet to be served.
His mouth moved dangerously close to mine. “Meet me in the foyer in five.”
We quickly parted and went our separate ways. I rummaged up my gear, while Grayson disappeared into the foyer to wait for me. On my way out, I made a detour to the restroom only to find a few women already waiting impatiently in line.
I briefly considered ignoring my bladder, until I glanced across the hall where the men’s restroom door was sitting slightly ajar. Tilting my head, I pricked up my ears and moved closer. When it became evident no one was in there, I slid in using my ninja stealth, and raced into the nearest cubicle.
Bubbling with excitement, I hurriedly washed my hands and fixed my hair in the mirror. Leaving with Grayson was totally out of character for me, but I didn’t care. He set my body on fire and there was only one way to settle the flames.
As I attempted to leave, approaching male voices drove me straight back into the cubicle. My heart hammered in my chest as I leant against the stall door, hoping their visit would be a short one.
“Jesus, no wonder Grayson didn’t come back to the hotel that night. If a girl like that wants to fuck you, you let her.”
My heart dropped. What the hell did he tell them?
Craig’s distinct laughter bounced off the tiled walls. “I still don’t understand why he called off his wedding. Mel never would’ve found out.”
“He’s too fucking honest, that’s why. It’s not like he’s the first person to fuck someone else on their stag night. It happens.”
Excuse me? I didn’t know what shocked me more. The fact they thought I’d slept with Grayson, or the way they condoned cheating.
“You would know,” Craig sniggered.
“Shut-up, man. I just got married, remember?” Hank?
“Like that will stop you.”
“It’s all about discretion, and I have it down to a fine art.”
“Like your tattoo?”
“Shut the fuck up,” Hank snapped. “The bitch drugged me.”
