Akhata: Term used toward of eadi shaytan that means “mistake” and is meant to insinuate they are undeserving of magic.
Captain: Rank for those who are second to colonels and in charge of running Elite Academy, only afforded to the wife of the male head of each core family.
Colonel: Rank for those in charge of companies within the elite forces, only afforded to the male head of each core family.
Core Family: Term for the families that descended from the original twenty elite soldiers that were first gifted shadow magic from the stars.
Eadi: Term for a person without magic, usually only used for those who are not awarded magic on their twenty-fifth birthday.
Of Eadi: Term for a shaytan who was born from eadi parents, often being the first in their bloodline to be gifted magic from the stars.
Elite: The highest ranking for a soldier that is a non-core family member, meaning that person has completed both the shadow ritual and Elite Academy, becoming a full-time soldier in the shaytan forces.
General: The highest rank of any soldier, only ever held by those with the essence of the stars.
Grunt: The lowest ranking for a soldier, meaning that the person holds a part-time position in the shaytan forces and is often only utilized in times when elites need assistance.
Haya: Elixir that extends the lives of eadi.
Shaytan: Term for a person with magic, which only occurs if the individual is awarded the gift from the stars on their twenty-fifth birthday.
