Story: Upon an April Night

Duncan and Jamie chuckled.
“Thanksgiving, that’s right,” Duncan replied as he leaned in and kissed her forehead. “Sweet dreams, Ellie Bean.”
Ellie closed her eyes and snuggled into her pillow as Jamie carefully tucked the blanket up under her arms and gently smoothed her perfect auburn curls back from her face.
They walked quietly to the door and closed it softly behind them.
Jamie headed toward their room, reaching back for her husband’s hand. He tugged her back against him, resting his lips against the side of her neck.
“Don’t you think it’s about time for another one of those?”
“Soon.” They’d been mentioning it more and more in the past few months, but Jamie wasn’t sure she was quite ready yet. Ellie was a handful at times, and with the growth of the photography studio, it wasn’t a decision to take lightly.
He squeezed her hips as he nipped at her ear. “We probably need some practice anyway.”
She glanced back over her shoulder at him. “Is that so?”
“Absolutely. In fact, I think it’s a priority.”
Jamie laughed as she turned to face him, running the tips of her fingers along his jaw to his neck, then down over his broad chest, stopping just above his belly button.
His chest rose and fell, and the look in his eyes told her everything she needed to know.
“I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you too.” They leaned in at the same time, meeting in the middle in a slow, intoxicating kiss.
She pulled back for air and reached for his hand, her fingers winding with his. “Come on, baby, let’s go fall in love all over again.”
