But there are some things you can’t control. And I’ll never be sorry I fell.

I’m perched atop the Mirador in my dragon form, stone beneath my claws. Alone. No one dares come near.

They all act as if Amber is dead. That there’s no way my father would allow Lucifer’s daughter to live.

But I know.

She’s alive.

Restlessness fills me.

The need to move, to fly.

To find her.

I launch myself off the tower and spread my wings. I soar into the darkness, flying to the stars.

She’s alive.

I whisper it into the storm of my own mind, and the fire within me stills—banked, but not gone. I close my eyes, and in the silence that follows, I feel her—like a whisper pressed against my soul.
