Story: F*ck It Out With A Devil
I’m lost, so lost in the sheer sexiness these guys exude.
“And last we have…”
“Wyck.” I whisper.
“You know him?”
“Yes, his father and I are engaged to be married.” My voice isn’t more than a whisper as I tell her this.
I say it like it’s my best kept secret. Why? I don’t know. Catching myself, I smile a megawatt smile as I wait to hear her reply.
“Oh, that sounds… Lovely.” Something is off with the way she said it, but she quickly masks it. “Congratulations are in order then.” She says, picking up her glass of water. “Cheers to my new found friend who found her person.” She beams.
“Thank you.” I say as we clink glasses. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“It’s not much, but it’s definitely something to celebrate.” She sits her glass down. “So, when’s the wedding?”
“Um, we haven’t gotten that far with planning.” I chuckle. “Bash has been busy and in between me moving in with him and starting my new job here… It’s kinda been pushed to the back burner, ya know?”
“Nothing wrong with that. It only means when the time comes, you can plan your little heart out and have a wedding that everyone attending will remember.” She smiles at me. It’s genuine and reaches her ears, causing the doubt that was there to slip away.
“Why do they have to look like sex on a stick?”
“Right! They are so fucking hot, but I have a boyfriend so no playtime for me, but you, you aren’t off limits.”
“Oh, yes I am. I’m engaged to be married.” I say, flashing my ring in her face.
“Engaged, but not married yet.” She wags those clean cut brows of hers, drawing laughter from me.
“You are a bad influence, do you know that?” I giggle as I see her mood change a little. “I didn’t mean it like that.” I say, nudging her shoulder.
“No, I get it. I have to stop thinking the worst.” She whispers, looking down.
I have to get myself under control. These boys are probably in some of my classes and are probably way younger than me. Deep in my thoughts, I miss everything that Cressida just said.
“Stop ignoring me.” She whines.
“Sorry.” I mumble as they pass us by. “What did you say?” I ask, looking over my shoulder one last time to get a glimpse of their back… Sides.
“I asked how your first week of classes went?” She mumbles.
“Oh, sorry. I’m actually really enjoying the change from high school. There’s more down time to breathe and prep. The students have been respectful, for the most part. They’re a lot easier to wrangle than the kids I used to teach. I have such a passion for science it makes it that much more fun. Seeing my students interested just brightens my whole day.” Wow, I’m rambling again, who cares how much I love science. “How have your classes been?”
“That’s awesome you enjoy it so much.” She says, but her smile doesn’t seem to reach her eyes. “My classes have been good. No big drama yet. But there’s not much to stress over about art, unless you forget to bring your drawing paper.” She giggles to herself, looking down to her watch. “Looks like my break is over. Time for me to get back to it.” She says, getting up from the table as I follow. “How many more classes do you have?”“Two but they’re the easy fifty minute ones. You?” I mumble, tossing my trash into the nearest bin before we head back inside.
“Same, but mine are almost three hours each. Ugh, even coffee doesn’t do the trick.” She sticks her finger down her throat, making gagging noises.
“Does your boyfriend work here as well?” She stills as I ask her the question.
“No, he’s in the development business. You know, trying to build his own company.” She makes it sound boring, but I think it’s not.
“That sounds really cool.”
“Yeah, well, here we are.” She chuckles, but it’s off. I know I just met this woman, but I can read people like I read those smutty books I love, and she is definitely hiding something. I don’t have time to dwell on it now.
“Thanks for lunch, let’s do it again soon.” I say, pulling her in for a brief hug. She hugs me back, but something has changed. It’s a little stiff and over before I know it.
“You betcha. I’ll see you later.” She waves before turning around and leaving.
“And last we have…”
