“Please, Sky,” I whispered, not above begging her too.
She must have read the desperation on my face, because hers relaxed, and she clasped her hand atop mine on her cheek. “Anything for you, Ashton.”
Relief should have rushed through me, calmed my anxiety, but I hovered on the verge of a panic attack.
Taking measured breaths, I led Sky to our bedroom and stripped her of her towel as Rhett showered. Her pale, freckled skin called to my fingertips, but I encouraged her onto the bed before touching her.
“Are you okay?” she asked, her gorgeous green eyes wide and full of empathy as I pushed down my pants with shaking hands.
“I will be,” I promised a lie while climbing in to lay beside her.
She sighed as I rubbed my nose over hers. She smelled of mint, coconuts, and dreams fulfilled. Her simple touch eased some of my nerves, bringing a sense of relaxation that would allow me to enjoy our evening together.
“I’m falling in love with you, Sky,” I whispered, needing her to know one truth of my existence.
She hugged me tight, her eyes growing misty. “I feel the same.”
“We just need to get Rhett in on this love fest,” I said and kissed her.
“Mmm,” she hummed her agreement against my mouth.
I rolled to my back, taking her along with me, settling her atop my aching body.
She straddled my waist, our mouths breaking apart as we stared at one another, both of us breathless.
“I’m all in, Sky,” I murmured, smoothing her hair away from her face and cradling her cheeks in my hands. “I want this for a long as possible. Us.”
“Me too,” she whispered, her eyes welling.
“Can we have you tonight—nothing between us?” I asked, my heart thrumming. “I-I know it’s a lot to ask, but we aren’t promised tomorrow, and I really…well.” I swallowed hard. “Rhett and I get tested regularly, and we always wear condoms when we invite someone into our bed.”
“I haven’t been with anyone except for the two of you in years—and my last doctor recommended testing too since my ex was a cheating asshole.”
“So you’re okay going bare?” I asked and held my breath.
“Yes. I know this has all happened really quickly, and my family would call me a fool for making decisions like this, but I want a future with you and Rhett. Children. Lots of them. And if that happens sooner than later, I won’t complain.”
“So you aren’t on birth control?”
Lower lip catching between her teeth, she shook her head.
My throat clogged up, and I pulled her down for a tender kiss. The sense of rightness welled inside my soul, flooding me with the same emotions I felt for Rhett—and yet slightly different in its bonding strength.
The softness of her mouth, the sweetness of her breath, how she pressed her body against mine with a sigh rushed contentment through me. A longing so damn deep I couldn’t fathom its depths welled up inside me, capturing my full focus.
Her tongue stirred my blood, and her fingers in my hair and small moans thickened my dick.
