“Lo voglio tutto dentro!” My father was breathing harder than I had ever heard him breathe.

He was asking the girl I loved, the girl I had lost my virginity to…to fuck him harder. Instantly, a rage had come over me and before I knew it, I was beating the fuck out of my father. My fists flying into his face and body.

Our commotion had awakened everyone including my mother, brother, and Talia’s father.

“You filthy fucking bastard!” Talia’s father had yelled and screamed.

That was the moment the Scarpettas had been ousted. Talia's father had called a meeting with the other Don almost immediately. My father had fucked over me and our family. My mother had died with a broken heart over shame and embarrassment. The other wives wouldn't have anything to do with her.

Talia had tried to mend things but …

She had killed any love and affection I’d ever felt for her. For the next twenty years, it would be a slow climb back for the Scarpettas. It would take me that long through the deal of a lifetime to restore us to somewhat glory. It was thanks to John Knowles and his head for business and my plan of attack.

I owed that man everything. He had single handily changed the tide for me and mine, giving me power equal to that of my father's in the

Chapter 32

Thierry

A car had met me, Alphonse and James at the airport. It’d been terrible flying in, even if I had been sitting in first class. My body had felt restless and unsure the entire flight. It felt as though I was on pins and needles. There had also been turbulence half the flight.

As soon as I had cellphone reception, I tried to call Diamond. It had only been two hours since I’d kissed her forehead. She’d looked pretty peaceful in the glow of the lamp when I left this morning.

However, she hadn’t answered but figured she would call me back when she had a chance.

The town car had come to a halt in front of the Scarpetta mansion. I hadn’t been home in so long it almost felt foreign to me. The driver exited and opened the door for me.

“Welcome home, Mr. Scarpetta,” he nodded.

“Thanks,” I nodded back.

I didn’t recognize him but my father had probably hired a few new men. Before venturing inside, I checked my phone one last time and there was still nothing. James and Alphonse had ridden with me and were behind me every step of the way.

I entered into the mansion and called out for the old man.

“In here,” came a voice to the left of us.

This was the dining room, a room my father never used. It was for special occasions. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up as I ventured in.

Before I could figure out what was going on, I heard bodies hitting the floor. Turning immediately, I found Alphonse and James on the ground behind me, bullet holes in their head.

They had never had a chance.

“What the fuck!”

I looked at their dead bodies and then up to see that a giant man, a scar running down his face, had tucked himself behind the door. We had never stood a fucking chance. The big man had his gun trained on me and there was a suppressor on the end.

“Go on in but before you do….place your gun on the floor real careful like,” he spoke.

I held up my hands and very carefully reached for my gun. I was still in the dark about what was going on here and I needed to survive.

The gun was laid on the ground and for good measure, I kicked it over to him.

“Go now,” he jerked his head towards the dining room.

Swallowing, my mouth felt so dry. There was no way I was about to let this big motherfucker see me sweat. Taking a deep breath I entered into the dining room and there I found Talia at the head of the table drinking wine. My body came to a complete stop. She was sitting there and there was someone sitting beside her with sunglasses on. There was a silver platter in the middle of the table cover and dinnerware out on the table. There was no scent of food in the air, but there was something lingering, a rotten smell. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Fighting the urge to gag I stood still.

“Thierry, welcome home,” she smiled.
