I didn't hear another word as I ended the call. Rita's voice had given me a giant headache. It was almost dinner time here and Thierry had decided that all four of us were going out. While Treyanna had been a welcome surprise, I felt like she was really into Thierry's brother which was odd. It was almost like they knew each other.
I was just finishing the touches on my hair, thoughts of who could do a weave in Italy swimming in my head when a knock came on the door. Frowning, I figured it was Trey and went to open the door. Instead, I found my husband.
"Ugh... it's you," I murmured and turned to go back into the room.
"You don't have to be so mean...I thought we were getting somewhere when I bought you that underwear. I could have let you fumble with trying to pay in cash."
Throwing him a look, I instantly became aware of my silk panties that had encased my ass. Thierry could kiss both sides of my butt cheeks because I was back in the seat of luxury thanks to Trey.
"Haha," I faked a laugh.
I had a tube of lipstick on the vanity that was waiting for my lips. Opening the silver tube, I twisted up a bit and went to paint my lips. "Before my mother died...she use to wear this color. I always wondered how she made it look so perfect."
"Sharing are we..."
Glancing over, I saw he had leaned against the doorway watching.
"I don't know why I even told you that," I shrugged and put the lipstick away.
"I have something for you."
My eyebrow arched and I adjusted the silky brown shirt that I was wearing. I had tucked it into a pair of black dress pants that emphasized my long legs. I had a pair of tan color heels on my feet and when Thierry stepped forward with a jewelry box in his hand.
"Oh...you know I love jewelry...Diamonds are a..."
"Husband's best friend?" He asked.
The box opened and there on the velvet interior lay a diamond tennis necklace. It had to easily be worth over six thousand dollars and that was just my estimate from eyeballing it. The light seemed to hit the surface of every single diamond and they almost blinded me. We were talking about some serious bling here.
"Do you like it?"
"I love it," I looked up and I knew he could read the awe in my face.
"Then Tesoro, let me place it on you."
There was that word again. My silk panties seemed to be a little more moist at his words but I shook it off.
Thierry had still kidnapped me.
I wasn't going to swoon over a diamond necklace and fall at his feet like some little schoolgirl who didn't know better.
He had given a gift.
I had accepted said gift.
There had to be an exchange.
My phone started to vibrate on my bed. Both our eyes darted away from each other and glanced towards the bed. We saw the large letter "N," light up the screen and we knew who was calling. A sly smile edged on his lips, but Thierry backed away from me with his hands up.
"I'll only be a moment," I said.
"Makes no difference," he replied and left the room.
Even if he was gone, the weight of the diamond necklace remained around my throat. Picking up the phone, I answered Nathan's call. The excitement the use to reside in my stomach was no longer there.
"I didn't expect you to answer," were the first words out of his mouth.
I still said nothing.
