I searched over the tight pants and pulled out a twenty for the drinks, and then palmed my car keys. Thierry looked around wildly.

“You shouldn’t drive, you’ve been drinking,” he said.

“I should call someone,” I muttered and went to stand.

The minute I did, my legs buckled.

“Who…I’m right here,” he said. “I’ll drive us home.”

He went to pull me in close.

I wasn’t interested in that. Shoving away from him, I stumbled but my legs carried my ass to the door. He followed behind me calling my name.

I was standing in the middle of the sidewalk, cold and shivering trying to remember where I parked. My fingers were tapping the unlock button. It felt smooth and word under my touch but I couldn’t hear the sound.

Thierry snatched my keys out of my hand. “Diamond, you are not driving.”

I was starting to feel hysterical. It had been years since I’d felt this way. I just wanted to go home. Why was Thierry here ruining my life? I’d been stripped of everything because of him. My father practically favored him and had given him his empire. The Diamond had been burned to the ground because of his jealous ex.

Rain began to fall.

“This is bullshit!” I screeched out loud.

“Let’s fucking go, right now!”

He didn’t give me a chance to protest. Suddenly, I was over his shoulder and pounding at his back, watching the sidewalk from the weirdest point of view.

It didn’t matter how hard I kicked or screamed, Thierry didn’t let go until he deposited me into the front seat of his car. Instead of taking me back to our mansion, he took me to my house.

He led me inside, peeled my clothes from my body, and shoved me into bed. I turned on my tv and began to sing along to my favorite theme song and he returned from the kitchen with a glass of water before stripping down and getting into bed with me.

We’d been pretty quiet and now I was confused.

“What are you doing?”

“Getting into bed with my wife,” he shrugged and fluffed a pillow.

“Nah, you need to go.”

“Diamond…I don’t want to sleep alone. You can be on your side of the bed, and I will be over here. In the morning when you wake up, I will still be here. We will talk more in the morning. But I’m not going anywhere.”

I sneered at him but settled back against my pillow.

The Golden Girls were settling into their antics and I just wanted to watch tv.

We could argue in the morning.

Chapter 24

Thierry

Silence could be extremely deadly, I decided.

Diamond had been icy and distant ever since she’d learned that Talia was in town and I’d known. I’d tried everything in the last few days to break through to her but nothing was working.

I’d even forgone my plans for New York and would be spending Christmas in the South.

Christmas was literally in three days and I had no idea what to get this woman, or if she wanted anything at all. Honestly, I had no idea why I even was bothering, considering that she wasn’t speaking to me. She hadn’t returned to the mansion I’d worked so hard to get her into, so I’d been coming to her place instead. It was small and cramped but we still shared a bed every night.
