People were running everywhere as I heard the bike speed off.

Getting to my feet, I stayed low. I hadn't gotten a good look at the figure but I was sure this was just a warning shot. The sound of Treyanna screaming Enzo's name nearby finally found me as I scrambled over to them.

My brother was laying on the ground, blood seeping from his shoulder. He was grinning like a fool, his face instantly pale.

"Brother," I scrambled to his side. "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph."

With no hesitation, I began to apply pressure to the wound hoping it would stop the bleeding some. Enzo had turned pale.

"I think I'm going to pass out," he was wincing now.

"No, stay away brother," I told him. "Treyanna, keep his head elevated."

Her brown eyes were looking frantic and I noticed blood had splattered over her face and chest area. Her clothing was ruined. Forcing myself to focus, I smacked at Enzo's face some to keep him coherent.

"What do I do?" Diamond asked from my side.

"We need to call emergency services..."

I rattled off the number for her to dial, half in broken Italian. She seemed frustrated but got through to someone on the other end.

I stared down at my baby brother.

The other families had made it clear that we were not welcome back into the fold. It was a shame that it had come to this and now my little brother had a bullet in him.

I was going to stand on their backs and force them to their knees.

"Stay with me little brother," I whispered to Enzo.

In the distance, I could hear the wail of sirens approaching.

War,I thought.

This was what they wanted and by God, they would have it.

Chapter 15

Diamond

I had just begun to doze off in the big comfy leather chair when lights from a car arriving filtered through the room. Thierry's driver had brought me home from the hospital hours ago before returning to wait for him.

Stretching like a cat, I fixed my hair, sure it was all across my head, and made it to the front door just in time to see Thierry walk in. In his face, I could read the exhaustion all over his features and his crisp white shirt was covered in Enzo's blood.

It had happened so fast, I hadn't known what was going on.

He had protected me, thrown me to the ground, and shielded my body with his.

"Hey, " I said quietly and giving a warm smile.

"Hey," he nodded.

A somber cloud was pulling around him.

"Where's Trey?" I asked.

"She decided to stay with Enzo at the hospital. He just got out of surgery...I was so tired I asked Vinny to bring me home."

"Oh," I said biting the inside of my lip. "Okay."
