V: Looking forward to it.
My laptop dinged with an email notification from Leonard, and I immediately opened it.
Hey Vivian,
Wow. You really thought I was chickening out on the whole thing. Not having cold feet (or cold foot, in my case), so poor Penny is stuck with me. Sorry I didn’t accept your offer of a makeover. I have some style, if I do say so myself, so no worries there. ;)
But I do have one reservation. I only have one leg and a prosthetic… and I couldn’t dance back when I had two. And figures, I choose a reunion featuring a dance floor and a DJ as a first date. Stupid.
Penny knows but says she doesn’t care. Sweet of her, but man, it would be nice to look like a one-legged Fred Astaire and shock the hell out of her and everyone else. ;)
-Leo
A one legged-Fred Astaire? Excitement rushed through me with an idea, and I grabbed my phone to text Justin.
V: Hey, I heard from Leonard, well, Leo. He’s going, so you don’t have to worry about being Penny’s backup date. But he does have one issue. He doesn’t know how to dance… and has a prosthetic leg. Do you think we could help him in three days?
J: I don’t know, but we can try.
V: I know this will cut into our own practice time, but would you mind if I invite him to the studio tonight? Maybe Katerina can help…
J: No, I don’t mind. This takes priority. We can work on our dance after or find a way around it.
V: I love you, you’re the best.
I stopped and edited my text before sending.
V: You’re the best!
J: I am, aren’t I? :p
V: And a little conceited.
J: No, I just know my strengths and weaknesses.
V: And what are your weaknesses? Because so far, I haven’t seen any.
J: You witnessed my last first date. I consider my dating record a pretty big weakness.
V: That reminds me, we haven’t had a real first date yet.
J: Can we pretend we did? I like your hair the way it is, and it may become a fire hazard before the end of the night.
V: We’ll stay away from candlelit dinners.
J: How about a date in straitjackets inside a padded cell?
V: LOL. It’ll be fine.
J: So, when is this first date supposed to happen?
V: Friday is my last Singles Club meet before Paris, how about Saturday?
J: Saturday it is.
V: XO
He responded with a heart emoji.
