I could do even better than that.
“If Carlos okays it, how would you feel about partnering up on this project?”
“Partnering up?”
“You would handle the story and article portion, and I’d focus on the makeover part,” I said. “Your name would be on it, and it would give you some exposure as a writer.”
And me less exposure as a writer since I sucked at it. A win-win for both of our careers.
Becky sat on the edge of her seat. “Do you think Carlos would really go for that? The only experience I have is my blog. And the editor of my college newspaper. I could bring in some articles I’ve written before if it would help.”
“You won’t need that.” I grinned. “I may not be able to get you on as a writer full time, but I’m pretty sure I can get Carlos to agree for this month’s feature.”
“Thanks so much. I won’t let you down.” Becky stood up, barely able to contain her excitement. “My break is almost up, and Mooney is a stickler for time.” She started toward the door and spun around. “Oh, are you guys having Singles Club again Friday?”
I dragged another application into my “maybe” folder. “No, we moved it to Saturday if you want to go. I plan on having a date by Friday.”
Becky laughed. “Good luck with your bet.”
“No luck needed, but thanks.”
“Did you even call Justin yet?” Crystal asked.
“Nope, he has to call me first.”
“You gave him your number?”
“No, but I gave Isabella permission to give it to him if he asks.”
“And if he doesn’t call?”
I opened the next application. “He’ll call. I’m not worried about it.”
Crystal shook her head. “I have a feeling we both made a mistake doubting you.”

Isabella buzzed me, and I picked up the phone. “Rajesh is on the line for you.”
My heart kicked it up a few notches. This was either going to be a very good day or a bad one. “Put him through.”
“Good luck.”
“Thanks.”
“Hi Rajesh, how are things on your end?”
“Great, I wanted to let you know that I talked with my partner and we really like where you see our app going. We would love to set up a meeting here to discuss it further with the team.”
It took every ounce of will power not to jump out of my seat in a rush of excitement. “I’d love to meet the team and hear all your ideas.”
“Awesome. How’s Thursday around one?”
“I’ll have to make a few schedule changes, but I’ll be there.”
“Alright, see you then.”
