“We’ll take you to get measured,” I said. “Would you mind getting your hair done too, maybe some soft highlights?”
She laughed like I was her godmother and she was Cinderella. “Not at all.”
Now I had to be sure Leonard would show.

The advances I regularly got didn’t bother me as much today. My mind was on Vivian.
Isabella knocked on my door at the usual time. “Are you ready for your daily schedule?”
“Yes.”
She went through the list and I struggled to concentrate.
“Are you even listening?” she asked after a minute.
I looked up, half in a daze. The truth? I’d figured out the perfect coaching session, and that’s all I could think about.
“Why are you so happy today?” Isabella asked.
“I’m not.”
“You are. Something’s different.” Her face went softer as if she understood. “You had a date this weekend. Did it go well?”
I snorted. “It was a disaster.”
“Oh.”
“By the way, is Vivian more of a Chinese or Thai food person?” I asked.
Isabella squinted her eyes at me. “Thai.”
“It’s not what you think, we’re just friends.”
“Mmm-hmm.”
I pulled at my collar, loosening my tie. “Did Vivian mention something to you… alluding to something different?” The moment I asked the question, I regretted it. Did I really want something different?
Isabella crossed her arms. “No, and need I remind you that she’s moving to Paris in two weeks and five days?”
That only meant we had a lot of work to do if my session with her would work. Ignoring the flip of my stomach, I sipped my coffee and focused on my emails. “That will be all for now.”
As soon as Isabella closed the door behind her, I pulled out my phone to send Vivian a text.
J: I figured out what your coaching sessions will be.
V: And what mess have I gotten myself into?
I laughed.
J: It’s not as bad as you think but will require a lot of time since we’re on a deadline.
V: Are you getting the better end of the deal again?
J: If it works out for both of us, it’s a true win-win.
