Local Student Headed to State Pageant

Jacqueline Bennett, age 12, will represent Elkin at Miss Black Kentucky in a few short weeks after winning a local contest. She has won a record-breaking thirty pageants across the state and in neighboring Tennessee since she began competing. Her parents will be driving her and her four siblings to Kentucky’s capital for the competition. The young beauty queen said, “I am honored to be competing in Miss Black Kentucky, and I hope that I can make Elkin proud.” The local seventh grader will perform a monologue from the classic Broadway show Porgy and Bess while twirling a baton.
