Page 94 of The Revenge You Seek
I know for a fact that the boys on either side of me have my back over their father.
"Fine," Reid barks, swiping the paperwork from his father's desk. "Consider it done by sunrise."
"I'll expect a debrief first thing."
Reid doesn't respond. He knows how this works by now and I know from experience the less conversation he has with his sperm donor the better.
"This is fucking bullshit," I spit once we're in the parking lot and inside Reid's SUV.
"I told him we'd take someone else but he was adamant you had to be here."
"Why?"
"Fuck if I know."
"Who are those guys?"
"Assholes who tried to intercept our shipment."
"Just two of them?"
"They're junior members of the Ravens. Thought it would impress their Prez if they could fuck us over."
"Have they got a death wish?"
"Apparently so. You ready for this?"
He glances at me before looking at his brother in the rearview mirror.
"Always. Let's go fuck them up so I can get to bed before practice, eh?"
"Sure thing." He cracks his knuckles before putting his car in reverse and heading across town to the bar these pricks are apparently going to be at.

I get two hours of sleep before I have to get up again for training.
My knuckles are busted, I've got a fucking black eye and I did such a shit job of showering when I finally got back last night that I've still got blood splattered up my arm.
I drag my ass through the entrance of the training center at six a.m. barely able to open my right eye.
Coach is going to lose his fucking shit, but what choice do I have.
I get more than a few curious glances as I stumble into the locker room.
I throw my shit into my locker and head straight out to the field house.
"Legend," is growled the moment I attempt to pass Coach's office.
"Yes, sir?"
"You look like shit."
"I'm aware. It won't happen again." It's a promise I already know I can't keep. Vic is a law unto himself. I fucking knew he'd make me pay for everything he helped me with past our original agreement.
"If I find out you've been involved in anything you shouldn't be, I won't have a choice but to reconsider your position here."
"Understood, sir." I nod, itching to get out and away from a lecture I don't need.
