Page 87 of The Revenge You Seek
"No, I'm good. I'll message you once I'm safe." I wink at him before pushing the door open.
"You'd better," he warns, but there's no harshness to his voice.
"Thank you for this evening. It was just like old times."
They both smile at me.
"See you in the morning," Leon says.
I nod at them both before slamming the door and taking off toward my building. I keep my eyes focused on where I'm going but the need to look around, to look for him almost gets the better of me. If I didn't know that both Luca and Leon are watching my every move from the car then I might have because my tingles of awareness get stronger with every step I take.
Micah is at his laptop in the kitchen when I get up to our dorm.
"Evening," he says, glancing up for the briefest of seconds.
"Hey," I sigh lightly, grabbing a bottle of water from the refrigerator. "You been working all day?"
"Pretty much. Ellis had good things to say about you," he adds, lowering his screen so he can pay me some attention.
"Oh yeah? You been digging for intel?"
He chuckles. "Not at all. He just said you were cool."
"That was nice of him. He's a good guy," I say but immediately wince because I'm not actually sure how true that is. He's Victor Harris's son. Is it really possible for him to be a decent human being?
"I know who his family are, Let," he admits, clearly able to read my reaction.
"Good, that's good. Just… just be careful, yeah?"
"I know how to look after myself, Letty. But thanks for the concern."
"I'm sorry, I'm sure you can. It's just… the Harrises are a special brand of dangerous and I'd hate for you to get tangled up with them."
A cocky smirk tugs at his lips. It's one I'm more used to seeing on Brax or West than I am on sweet Micah. "Who says I'm not already dangerous?"
He keeps his face emotionless for all of ten seconds before a wide smile breaks and he bursts out laughing.
"Were you even half-convinced?" he asks through his laughter.
"For a second," I lie. I know dangerous cruel bastards, and Micah Lewis isn't one of them.
"The worst I've ever done is bug my older sister's bedroom when we were kids so I could listen to her girl chat with her friends."
"You did not?" I gasp although it doesn't escape my attention that he could be useful to me right now.
"I did," he admits, a blush hitting his cheeks. "I had the biggest crush on one of her friends and I was convinced she liked me too."
"Did she?" I ask, pulling out a chair and sitting down to listen, already way too invested in this story than I should be.
He laughs but there's no humor there. "Nah, she'd spent the previous night blowing our high school's quarterback and spent way longer than necessary giving her friends—and me—the gory details."
"Oh my God," I snort. "You carried on listening?"
"Thought I could learn a thing or two."
"About blowjobs?" I ask, lifting a brow. As far as I know, he's straight but I could be way off the mark.
"No," he spits, a horrified expression appearing on his face.
