Good morning, residents. This is your chief retention officer speaking. As of this morning twenty-two residents and three staff members have caught the norovirus, bringing the total number of cases to thirty-one. I am placing this facility under a public health emergency. [a cough] Excuse me. If you have gastrointestinal symptoms, you should immediately report your case to Senior Attendant Jackson. She will be making shift reassignments across the facility to ensure that we can meet our commitments.

Please try to isolate from others if you’re sick, and make sure to drink plenty of fluids. All residents should wash their hands with soap, avoid sharing utensils or personal care products, and maintain good hygiene. Disinfectant spray is available at the commissary for those who wish to clean their rooms.

Fresh linens may not be available at this time. Residents who need them should do their own washing at the utility sinks in the exercise yard. A limited supply of soap is available for this purpose on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once again, this facility is under a public health emergency. We need everyone to work together if we want to stop the spread. Please do your part.
