My eyes narrow, and I storm away, half running, half striding to our room. Vix is coming out of the room, with a troubled look on her face. She sees me and swallows but holds her hands up to slow me down.

“Wait,” she says, her eyes stern. “She's emotional. That's all.”

“Why is she crying?” I demand.

“Well...” Vix shrugs and looks at me with sadness. “She thinks she's a prisoner here. We all heard her cries, but I found her sound asleep. But she was talking in her sleep about being held prisoner here. I'm sorry, Calix; I know you've waited a long time for your mate.”

My chest feels like it's being crushed.

Blair feels like a prisoner?

I nod at Vix, and she pats my arm before walking away. “Try to be nice, Alpha.”
