Page 12 of Taking A Chance
I leave her to check out the bathroom, while I remove my jacket, shoes, and socks, leaving me in just my dress pants.
“Wow!” Petra exhales, appearing in the doorway. I’m as proud as a peacock at her reaction to seeing me again in a state of undress, I take a step towards her when she says, “The floor and wall tiles are exactly what I would have put with this suite, and the shower is something else.” She’s so excited that I’m surprised she’s stopped to take a breath. Her enthusiasm is adorable though, and it immediately dampens my initial disappointment.
“Oh, sorry,” she apologies, and steps out of the room, “I’m keeping you.”
I shake my head and laugh. “You should be an interior designer, instead of working for my brother,” I offer, passing her I head straight for the shower.
“If only,” I hear her say with a sigh, before I close the door behind me.
I take the shower cold, because the woman at the other side of the door has me as horny as hell. The temptation to go in there and pull her in here with me is driving me crazy. The image of her in just her underwear is still etched on my brain. But I have ten minutes to push down my erection and get my shit together.
As I step out of the shower, I think of soccer and baseball, anything to keep me distracted and my cock at half-mast. With a towel wrapped around my waist, I walk back into the bedroom. I manage to hide my surprise when I see that she’s still in the room over by the window, taking in the view. The sun lights up her face, her dark hair shimmers and her expression is of someone who is in awe of what she sees. I walk toward her with determination, all my control smashed to pieces. When she hears me, she turns and I get up close. Her back hits the glass when she tries to take a step backwards. I lean into her, putting a hand at each side of her head, not once breaking the eye contact.
“I think you need to put some clothes on,” she pants. Her chest rises and falls at a fast rate.
“I think you need to take some off,” I counter, brushing her ponytail back over her shoulder, exposing her neck. I cup the side of her face with my hand, my thumb brushes the shell of her ear. She leans into my caress.
“They won’t allow us in the dining room for breakfast in a state of undress.”
“I think we should skip breakfast.”
“I thought,” her breath hitches when I lean in and replace my thumb with my lips, giving her a quick kiss, “you were hungry?”
“Who needs food?” I groan, desperate for more friction, as my cock nudges her stomach. “I’d rather feast on you.” I push forward, pinning her harder against the window, until she’s pressing against my chest. I move a hand to her hip, sliding it up until it skims the side of her breast. A soft moan escapes her lips and I move to capture her mouth with mine. Before our lips touch, the sound of a phone ringing stops us in our tracks.
Petra pulls her phone out of her pocket and holds it up in front of me.
“It’s Kat,” she pants, a little breathless. “I better get this.” I give her a little space, but not too much, leaving my hand resting on her hip.
“Hi,” she greets when she accepts the call. “Yes, yes, I’ll be down in a minute.” We keep eye contact as I listen to the one-sided conversation. “Did you, well I didn’t hear you knocking. I must have been in the shower or something. Out of breath? A little I guess, but I was in the middle of some…” she stutters as my hand moves towards her ass. She bats it away then wags a finger at me, making me feel like the naughty boy that I so want to be right now. “… thing, some stretches, decided I need to get healthy. A little jogging on the spot.” Her eyes go wide and her mouth gapes open. Shit! She really doesn’t make it easy for me. “No, no, you don’t have to come get me. I’m coming down now. I’m ready, starving actually, can’t wait for pancakes and bacon. Mmm, yummy.” I laugh and she slaps her palm over my mouth to muffle the sound, which makes me laugh more. “Of course, I’m on my own. Cade? Not seen him. Really? He must have left during the night. Yes, I’m on my way, bye, bye…” Finishing the call, she removes her hand from my mouth.
“I think we should go to breakfast, like now. Kat’s already suspicious and when she’s like that, she’s like a super sleuth, and won’t rest until she gets to the truth.”
“That we spent the night together, in your bed? Is that such a bad thing?” I tease.
“Come on, Cade,” she reprimands me. “It’s the wedding of my good friend and your brother. It just… looks bad.”
“What if I like bad?” I move in close, our lips millimetres away from each other’s.
“Not today, Cowboy,” she says, pushing me away.
“Why do you keep calling me Cowboy?”
“Because you remind me of one.”
“In what way?” I laugh. “I’m not wearing a Stetson; chaps and I don’t own any spurs.”
“You just do, okay?” She goes to walk past me, but I grab her arm and stop her.
“Explain.”
“You know. Tall, muscular, good looking. Golden tan and dirty blond hair that looks like it’s been touched on the tips by the sun.”
“You think I’m good looking.” I pull her towards me, and she falls against my chest. “We should skip breakfast. Let Kat come looking.” I place my lips on her neck, right where I can feel the thumping of her pulse. “She doesn’t know my room number, and by the time she finds out, you’ll be so distracted, you won’t even care.” I lift my head and try to read her reaction.
“Cade.” Her pupils are dilated, her lips open and pouty, and her face slightly flushed. I already know that her heart is racing. “I need to go.”
“Okay,” I relax my hold on her a little, but not enough for her to escape. “I’ll let you go, but only if you agree to meet up with me later.”
