Page 96 of Ruthless Obsession
I had to negotiate with the pilot. Told him I’d pay him thirty grand if he landed the plane. He agreed. I Zelled him the money and he landed the jet at the closest airport. Our MCs met us there. Phantom insisted we get you two home.”
Antoine waved a finger at me. “It’s a good thing you were wearing a bulletproof vest. That bullet literally knocked the wind out of you because it was close range.”
“I’m happy you were there and saved Sophie and me. Is Toby here?”
“Not sure, Psycho took him.”
I released a breath. “Good.”
Sliding to the edge, I threw my legs over the side. “I have to get to her.”
“Ruthless, you have to rest. Sophie’s sleeping.”
“I need to see if she and our baby are okay.”
His eyes drop to the floor. “I’ll get the doctor.” He saunters out the room.
Did she lose our baby?
“You’re no…better than me…you stole my girlfriend,” Toby says bringing me back from my thoughts.
I slam a switchblade into his shoulder. “I told you over the last two weeks Sophie’s not your girlfriend. She’s my OL’ Lady. I’ve been waiting to see if she’s up to making you pay.”
Stepping back, I survey my handiwork. Toby sits in just his boxers in the torture room, zip ties cutting into his wrists and ankle where they bind him to the chair. Blood has crusted around his nostrils from where I broke his nose, making each breath sound like he's fighting a bad cold. One side of his scalp is a mess of patchy skin and razor cuts, while the other still has hair. When he opens his mouth to beg, the gaps where teeth used to be make him whistle, and his lips have swollen to twice their normal size.
“Can’t believe Sophie sucked that little dick of yours,” I laugh.
“My dick is average,” he has the nerve to say.
I shake my head. “You’re dick’s below average.”
I cut off one of his legs. Dr. Cottingham tied on a tourniquet for me. He loathes sex traffickers, so he wanted to help.
“Mavis,” I hear from behind.
I reach for her hand and pull her close. “Sweetheart, it’s time to kill him. I know it’s been a rough couple of weeks.”
She presses her face into my butcher apron. I hold her close.
“Time to make him pay, baby.”
She grabs the switchblade off the table and slams it into his thigh.
He howls out in pain.
“You’re a horrible human being. How could you do that to me?”
“Sophie, I love you,” he cries.
Her eyes go wild.
“You hit me over the head and knocked me into a table. I lost our baby,” she cries dropping to her knees.
Tears sting the backs of my eyes as I fall to my knees behind her.
“Mavis,” she roars.
I can’t hold back the tears. I hurt for her. It took some time for Dr. Cottingham to control the bleeding. He isn't certain if the miscarriage began when the asshole tossed her into the trunk or if it was when her body slammed against the table that delivered the final blow.
