Page 63 of Ruthless Obsession
“This is apart of the life. Sometimes their gone for days. I usually hear from Lego when he’s on longer runs.”
“I remember when my brother went on runs. My mom would be worried.”
“So you grew up in the life?” Tonya asks.
“Yeah, kind of.” I pop a fry into my mouth. “I’m very familiar with biker life. But my brother didn’t allow me into the club until I was eighteen. I have a bike. It’s a Ducati though. Those are the bikes my brother’s MC rides.”
She knocks her shoulder against mine. “You’ll fit right in here.”
I grin before biting into my burger.
“Ruthless and I have a party to attend. If you don’t mind a little trouble I’d love for you and Legos to come.”
“I’m always ready for trouble.” She winks.
“Good. Come over to the house Wednesday evening at five. We’ll need to get fitted for evening gowns. Oh, and we’ll be strapped.”
“Fuck yes,” she beams.
“I’m going back to my room to relax. I want to be ready for Legos when he gets in. “Are you going to be good?”
“I’ll try.”
I squeeze Tonya’s arm. “It seems everyone knows I belong to Ruthless. So, I’ll be fine.”
She gulps down her whiskey. “Behave,” Tonya says before walking away.
Between bites of my burger, I peek at the stage. A slow ballad is playing and a few bikers dance with their OL’ Ladies.
My eyes fall on Jennifer. She’s standing near a couple of bikers playing pool. I smile and turn back to my meal.
It looks like she’s moved on from Mavis. Good. I miss him.
Sophie think good thoughts. He and his brothers are safe. I exhale.
“Hello.”
I glance at the woman. “Having fun tonight?”
“Yeah, the guys are cool. Came to grab another drink. It’s Sophie right?”
“Yes.” I point at her. “And your Jennifer, right?”
She nods, then rattles off her drink of choice to Karla.
“You’re all the buzz around the clubhouse tonight. Everyone’s in shock that Mavis has an OL’ Lady.” She visibly swallows. Jennifer looks close to tears.
“We were together not that long ago,” she sniffles.
Damn, she developed feelings for him.
She gulps her screwdriver.
“I had no idea we’d be together.”
“He doesn’t like skin to skin contact, kissing, or gazing into each other’s eyes.”
How could I tell her hookups aren’t about emotional contact? Yeah, most people like skin to skin contact. At least that’s what my friends said they got a lot of while we were in college. The friends I hadn’t talked to once things got serious between Toby and me.
