Page 12 of Ruthless Obsession
He turns me to face him. Mavis lifts the edge of my apple printed bonnet and pats the blood with a clean towel, then applies antiseptic to my wound.
“This must’ve happened when we hit the ground,” he says.
It’s then I notice he has scrapes and cuts on his arms. “You’re hurt,” I murmur.
“What are you going to do about it?” he inquires.
The heat now circles in my belly and causes my nipples to pebble beneath the towel.
“I-I can clean up your wounds.”
“After I take a shower, I’ll bring the supplies into the room.”
He places a bandage over the wound.
“Why were you crying?” Mavis asks.
“Just past trauma.”
“That Toby caused?” he asks. The scowl on his face is evident. He wants to rip Toby apart.
“Before Toby. But I can’t talk about it.”
Mavis runs a hand across the mirror getting rid of some of the condensation. I stare at my appearance and us.
He towers over me like a Greek God, without realizing it my tongue slicks across my lips.
“Want me that badly, huh?”
“I don’t want you at all,” I spit.
“Now that I’ve taken you from your little boyfriend, we’ll take STD tests. Want to make sure that snake didn’t give you anything.”
My brows lower. “Says the biker who sleeps with everything that walks.”
He chuckles. “Not unprotected I don’t. I’ve only had sex with one woman unprotected. That was with my high school girlfriend many years ago.”
“You can test me. Just know I never fucked Toby and damn sure won’t fuck you.”
His brows pinch together. “How long were you with Toby?”
“Two years.”
Mavis stares at me for a beat. “Did he try?”
I swallow. “We did other things. Just not sex. He said he likes knowing he has his own virgin.”
I thought it was sweet. That’s why I stayed with Toby so long and put up with his weird demands. He never pressured me to have sex.
Mavis’s green eyes darken. He slams his fist against the wall.
I shiver uncontrollably.
“Why are you upset?”
“He’s sex trafficking women, Sophie.”
I stumble back. “No he isn’t. I know he owns night clubs and strip clubs.”
